Dad’s Army: The Complete Collection £34.22

Until 1978 both the BBC and ITV didn’t have proper archives for programmes recorded on video tape, which resulted in significant amounts of material being wiped. Dad’s Army is less affected than most, but three episodes from the second series are missing, and one installment from series three was filmed in colour but now only exists in black and white.

Dad’s Army: The Complete Collection is a big 14 disc set that contains all of the surviving episodes, including the three Christmas specials. There’s also a couple of documentaries, radio remakes of the lost episodes, three "Christmas Night With The Stars" sketches, and other short odds and sods.

Summer Heights High £12.99

Summer Heights High is an Australian mockumentary series about high school life, as told from the perspective of three different people. This has done rather well since airing on BBC Three, and there’s a reason for that - it’s damn funny.

This double disc set contains all eight episodes, along with nearly four hours of deleted scenes, bloopers, and outtakes.

Rocky: The Complete Saga £12.99

Even if you’re not that much of a boxing fan - heck, even if you’re not that much of a Stallone fan - there’s no denying the brilliance of a large majority of the Rocky films. The story of an underdog overcoming seemingly impossible odds to triumph is gripping from beginning until end.

Rocky: The Complete Saga is a six disc boxset that contains every film made so far. I say "so far" because many doubted there would be a sixth one, until Rocky Balboa hit the screens in 2006.

Blackadder: The Complete Collection - Limited Edition £24.44

This Christmas will sort-of see the return of Blackadder, in the form of a 90 minute special that celebrates the 25th anniversary of the comedy series. "Blackadder Rides Again" looks back at the show via a series of interviews with the major cast members, and airs on BBC One (I’m not entirely sure when though!).

To pass the time between now and then, you could do worse than get the Blackadder: The Complete Collection - Limited Edition boxset. In it you’ll find every episode ever made, including "Blackadder’s Christmas Carol" and "Blackadder: Back & Forth".

Scrubs: Seasons One To Four £9.99 Each

Scrubs is an American comedy-drama series about the lives of several people working at Sacred Heart, which is a teaching hospital where students learn medical practices on-the-job.

CD-WOW are selling Scrubs: Seasons One To Four for £9.99 each, which is certainly a heck of a lot less than you would pay anywhere else - there are also many more titles in the CD-WOW TV DVD sale that are well worth checking out.

Harry Potter Limited Edition Gift Set £39.97

The sheer madness that surrounds the Harry Potter franchise refuses to go away, much like I refuse to read any of the books! With "The Tales Of Beedle The Bard" out imminently, I’m sure we’ll see some more craziness - even if it is a short collection of five tales that have little or nothing to do with Potter.

Friends: The One With All Ten Seasons £47.99

Friends is an American sitcom about a group of friends (surprisingly enough) living in the area of Manhattan in New York City. Although it finished some four years ago, ratings are still very respectable for the repeat airings - which is probably why it’s on e4 all the bleeding time.

Friends: The One With All Ten Seasons is a huge 30 disc boxset that contains all 236 episodes ever made. I’m sure a film will come along at some point, but this should keep you busy until it does!

Christmas With The Simpsons And Bart Wars: The Simpsons Strike Back Double Pack £4.99

Whilst there are many full season sets of The Simpsons available to buy on DVD, some people prefer to just get the ones that include episodes they enjoy - which makes any small compilation releases very handy.

The Christmas With The Simpsons and Bart Wars: The Simpsons Strike Back double pack contains a total of nine episodes. "Mr Plow" is the highlight of the Christmas feature, whereas "Mayored To The Mob" leads the Bart Wars set (which has another three installments, with each having very tangential connections to Star Wars).

Right now there’s a Play.com 3 for 2 on Blu-Rays offer running, which features some very good titles at not-too-shabby prices.
