Max & Paddy's Road To Nowhere

After the huge success of Phoenix Nights, hopes were high for the spin-off Max & Paddy’s Road To Nowhere. Although not quite as funny, the adventures of the two ex-bouncers still managed to provide more than a few laughs.

The DVD includes all six episodes, along with some deleted scenes and outtakes. Special mention must go to the surprise audio commentaries, which includes contributions from Keith Harris and Orville, Bez, and Vernon Kay (amongst others).

If you fancy this, click here to buy it for £5.99 from HMV.

It’s hard to believe that there were only 12 episodes ever made of Fawlty Towers, especially when you consider the lasting and powerful legacy the programme has had.

The Complete Fawlty Towers boxset includes all the episodes, along with a batch of special features. These include commentaries with the directors, new interviews with the cast, and a short film about Torquay.

Nightmares & Dreamscapes: From The Stories Of Stephen King £4.24

Nightmares & Dreamscapes: From The Stories Of Stephen King

Nightmares & Dreamscapes: From The Stories Of Stephen King is an eight episode series based on short stories by the ever popular horror writer. Although most are from the collection of the same name, there are some stories from other collections by King.

This three disc set not only contains every installment, but a huge amount of bonus material as well. This amounts to featurettes on each episode, including conversations with the great man himself.

Borders are selling this for £4.24 - click here for more details.

Tinker Bell (Blu-Ray) £12.93

Tinker Bell (Blu-Ray)

In every Disney movie she’s appeared in, Tinker Bell has never spoken - until now. The film which bears her own name is also unlike any other featuring the character, as it’s been produced using 3D modelling instead of traditional animation.

As this a high definition release, the picture and sound are pretty much perfect although I’m still personally to be convinced whether there’s any real benefit to having animation in crystal-clear quality - some will disagree though.

Click here to buy Tinker Bell, on Blu-Ray, for £12.93 from The Hut.

Journey To The Centre Of The Earth £8.89

Journey To The Centre Of The Earth

In the run up to Christmas, many online retailers run special "deal of the day" offers where something is sold at a certain price for one day only - today it’s the recent Brendan Fraser film Journey To The Centre Of The Earth.

It’s an OK movie about three people who go on an adventure by following clues from the Jules Verne novel of the same name (and, as such, is not a straight adaptation of said book).

To get this for £8.89 from Sendit.com, click here. Like I said previously, this offer is for one day only and by the end of Wednesday the 19th of November it will have risen in price.

The Ultimate Bourne Collection £12.99

The Ultimate Bourne Collection

Each of the Bourne films made so far have been of an excellent standard, so here’s hoping that if a fourth one does appear (as has been rumored) that it’s just as good. As long as most of the main characters return, I’m sure it will be.

Inside The Ultimate Bourne Collection boxset you’ll find copies of The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and The Bourne Ultimatum. There’s also some short featurettes and deleted scenes to be found as well.

Click here to buy this set for £12.99 from Play.com.

Porridge: The Christmas Specials £4.99

Porridge: The Christmas Specials

Porridge was a British sitcom that starred Ronnie Barker and Richard Beckinsale as two criminals in the fictional HMP Slade in Cumberland. It’s also considered by many to be one of the greatest comedy series’ to have been produced in this country, and who am I to disagree?

Porridge: The Christmas Specials is a DVD that contains both of the extended episodes show on Christmas Eve in 1975 and 1976, titled "No Way Out" and "The Desperate Hours" respectively.

Zavvi have this available for £4.99 - for more information, click here.

Asda 2 For £20 On Selected Blu-Rays

There’s an Asda 2 for £20 on selected Blu-Rays offer running at the moment, with some very decent titles included.

It’s an instore only affair, but it’s worth the effort - especially when you consider such films as Cloverfield, Transformers, No Country For Old Men, Hellboy, Casino Royale, and Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl can be found in it.

An excellent opportunity to expand your collection of high definition cheap DVDs if ever I saw one…

UPDATE: I’ve just noticed that it’s online now as well, although there’s bound to be a few that can only be instore and vice versa. Click here for the full list.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Complete Collection £49.99

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Complete Collection

If there’s one TV show that perhaps ended at just the right time, it’s Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Many will claim that it could have gone on longer, but for me it just seemed to be getting a bit tiresome towards the end - a film at some point might be a nice idea though.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Complete Collection is a mahoosive 39 disc set that contains every episode ever made of the hit US show about a girl who kicks demon ass. There’s also some special features, which amount to little more than selected audio commentaries and some short featurettes.

Click here to get this boxset for £49.99 from Play.com. Also remember that Angel: The Complete Collection is still £47.99 at Zavvi, if you’re interested.
