Independence Day (Blu-Ray) £4.99

Independence Day (Blu-Ray)

For years man has wondered if we are really alone in the universe, but if you watch 1996 blockbuster Independence Day then you'll be forgiven for thinking that we'd be better off not knowing! A hostile alien invasion of Earth is one thing – destroying some of our most famous landmarks and cities along the way is quite another…

Noted at the time for its then ground-breaking special effects, the film looks and sounds fantastic in high definition. As well as this there are two audio commentaries, a trivia track, and an interactive game – please note that this is the theatrical version of the movie shown in cinemas, and not the longer "Special Edition" cut.

Bang CD have Independence Day, on Blu-Ray, available for £4.99 – for more information, click here.

Monk: Seasons One to Six £23.97

Monk: Seasons One to Six

Monk is an American comedy-drama series about an obsessive-compulsive private detective. As a bit of back story, Adrian Monk was previously a brilliant detective for the San Francisco Police Department, until his wife was killed by a car bomb in a parking garage – Monk then suffered a nervous breakdown and didn't leave his house for three years.

The Monk: Seasons One to Six boxset contains the first 92 episodes of the show. There's also a few special features, but these only amount to incredibly short (around five minutes) featurettes about the cast and crew and the making of the programme.

Extras: The Complete Boxset £8.99

There's a total of five cheap DVDs in the Extras: The Complete Boxset

Many were of the belief that there was no way that Ricky Gervais could possibly top The Office, and they were right – however, Extras was still one of the funniest shows to grace our shores within the last ten years (and is still much better than the current guff the BBC inflict upon us).

Extras: The Complete Boxset is a five disc set which contains all 13 episodes ever made, including the Christmas special. Also included are a whole host of special features, such as featurettes on the making of the show and an audio commentary on the finale.

The Usual Suspects (Blu-Ray) £7.22

The Usual Suspects (Blu-Ray)

The Usual Suspects tells the story of a small-time con man who is the subject of a police interrogation. He tells his interrogator a convoluted story about events leading to a massacre and massive fire that have just taken place on a ship – using flashback and narration, his story becomes increasingly complex as he tries to explain why he and his partners-in-crime where on the boat.

Although there are absolutely no special features to speak of, the film has never looked or sounded as good as it does in high definition. Still would have been nice to get some of the stuff from the Special Edition DVD though…

CD-WOW are selling The Usual Suspects, on Blu-Ray, for £7.22 – click here for more details on this cheap DVDs' availability.

Battlestar Galactica: Season Four £7.95

Battlestar Galactica: Season Four

Because of the writers' strike in late 2007, the final series of Battlestar Galactica was split in two – therefore, the DVD release titled Battlestar Galactica: Season Four is actually the first 12 episodes of the series (confusing, eh?).

Not only do you get the 10 regular installments, but the Battlestar Galactica: Razor TV movie as well. Bonus material consists of a sneak peek at the remaining episodes (which are available on DVD now as well) and some deleted scenes.

Kath and Kim: The Complete First and Second Series £8.99

Kath and Kim: The Complete First and Second Series

Australia was never really the first place that would come to mind when thinking of places where decent comedy comes from, but in recent years this has been very much the case – Summer Heights High and Kath an Kim are just two examples of such shows.

The Kath and Kim: The Complete First and Second Series boxset contains the first 16 episodes of the programme about a dysfunctional mother and daughter. Sadly there's no sign of any extra features, but you can't have everything I suppose!

The Simpsons: The Complete Eighth Season - Collector's Edition

Anyway, The Simpsons: The Complete Eighth Season – Collector's Edition set contains all 25 installments from one of the best years ever. Also included are audio commentaries on every episode, "The Simpsons House" featurette, deleted scenes, and some promotional clips.

Life (Blu-Ray) £24.99

Life (Blu-Ray)

If there's one thing that justifies the license fee for many people in this country, it's the documentary series' that the BBC produce – more specifically, the ones that David Attenborough gets involved with. Life is the newest addition to an already impressive C.V., and it takes a look at the strategies and behaviour that living things have evolved in order to survive.

This high definition release of the series has the best picture and sound quality that you'll find anywhere, plus you'll also find 10 minute "making of" diaries for each of the 10 episodes.
