Minder: The Complete Collection £39.95

Minder: The Complete Collection

Minder was a British comedy/drama about the London criminal underworld which starred Dennis Waterman as honest and likable bodyguard Terry McCann and George Cole as unscrupulous businessman Arthur Daley. A new series was produced in 2009, with Shane Ritchie in the lead role of Archie Daley, but the least said about that the better…

Inside the Minder: The Complete Collection boxset you'll find a whopping 33 discs which contain all 108 episodes ever made. Also included are some text commentaries, a photo gallery and a brand-new interview with George Cole.

Lost: The Complete Seasons One to Five £69.99

Since Sky managed to acquire the rights to air Lost in this country, those who don't have satellite television or break the law by illegally downloading episodes have to wait ages before getting a chance to see the show on DVD – which is quite irritating indeed.

Anyway, the Lost: The Complete Seasons One to Five boxset is out now and contains all 103 installments that have been shown thus fair. Also included are so many extra features that I'd be here until the next season is finished just listing them!

The Long Good Friday (Blu-Ray) £6.98

The Long Good Friday (Blu-Ray)

Bob Hoskins might not seem like the kind of actor who would make a decent gangster if you've seen him in the old British Gas adverts or Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, but he is exactly this in the brilliant British film The Long Good Friday.

As well as looking and sounding as good as it ever has, this high definition release also includes some excellent bonus material. An audio commentary with director John Mackenzie is good, but the "Bloody Business" documentary on the making of the movie is even better.

Laurel and Hardy: The Collection £34.98

Laurel and Hardy: The Collection

Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy quite rightly go down in history as one of the best comedy duos ever. Even in these modern times, it's very easy to spend hours watching them at work – and what better way to do it than with Laurel and Hardy: The Collection.

This huge 21 disc set contains many of their best work, and some of the films are also presented in colour. Although some may be surprised to still find these funny, don't be – classic comedy still seems that much better than some of the newer stuff (with rare exceptions).

Amazon are selling this boxset for £34.98 – click here for more details.

Porridge: The Complete Collection £14.99

Porridge: The Complete Collection contains a total of four cheap DVDs

Porridge is a British situation comedy which was broadcast on BBC1 between 1974 and 1977. It starred Ronnie Barker and Richard Beckinsale as two inmates at the fictional H.MP. Slade in Cumberland – with the title of the show coming from "doing porridge", which is the slang term for imprisonment (porridge was once traditional breakfast in U.K. prisons).

Inside the Porridge: The Complete Collection boxset you'll find four discs which contain every episode ever made, including the two Christmas specials. Sadly there are no extra features, but you can't have everything I suppose!

HMV have this available for £14.99 – for more information, click here.

ER: The Final Season £16.99

ER: The Final Season

Well here it is, after 331 episodes across 15 years – the very last installments to be released on DVD. In a way we should feel lucky in this country though, as the U.S. only have the first eleven seasons available on shiny disc (something to do with syndication rights, apparently).

Inside the six disc ER: The Final Season boxset you'll find the last 22 episodes ever produced. Sadly there are no extra features included, even though a retrospective documentary is listed as being found on the last disc – which has to be one of the biggest missed opportunities ever.

Play.com are selling this set for £16.99 – click here for more details.

Seven Samurai £6.99

Seven Samurai

Seven Samurai is a Japanese film which takes place in Warring States Period Japan, and follows the story of a village of farmers who hire seven masterless samurai to combat bandits who will return after the harvest to steal their crops.

This film is often described as one of the greatest and most influential ever made, so it's fitting that this DVD is top quality. Along with a remastered picture which has never looked better and sound which is clearer than ever, you'll find an audio commentary with historian Philip Kemp.
