The West Wing: The Complete Series £34.99

The West Wing: The Complete Series

As far as political dramas go, The West Wing is probably the best that's ever been made. This U.S. TV series is set in the West Wing of the White House, which is where the Oval Office and senior presidential staff offices are to be found, during the fictional Democratic administration of Jed Bartlet.

All 154 episodes ever made can be found in the huge 44 disc The West Wing: The Complete Series boxset. Also included are a couple of bonus discs full of bonus material ranging from documentaries on how the programme was made to interviews with the cast and crew.

Tin Man (Blu-Ray) £6.49

Tin Man (Blu-Ray)

Tin Man is a mini-series which is a re-imagining and continuation of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, with science fiction and fantasy elements added. It focuses on the adventures of a small-town waitress who is pulled into a magical realm called the O.Z., which is threatened with eternal darkness by the evil Azkadellia…

This high definition release has much better picture and sound quality than the DVD version, as you'd expect, though it's a great shame that there isn't any sign of extra features – seems like a missed opportunity, if you ask me.

Click here to buy Tin Man, on Blu-Ray, for £6.49 from HMV.

Foyle's War: The Complete Series One to Five

Foyle's War is a British detective drama which was commissioned to replace the long-running Inspector Morse. Although originally cancelled in 2007, a number of complaints and public positive demand led ITV to revive the show after it became a ratings success.

The Foyle's War: The Complete Series One to Five boxset contains the first 16 feature-length episodes across a whopping 19 discs. You'll also find exclusive interviews with the cast and crew, a behind the scenes featurette and "The Making of Foyle's War" documentary.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: Collector’s Edition £5.97

The Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: Collector's Edition contains a couple of cheap DVDs

With a script penned by Roald Dahl and based on the Ian Fleming novel of the same name, the film version of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was probably always destined to be a success – though it's testament to the quality that some 42 years later it's still very popular.

Inside the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: Collector's Edition set you'll find a copy of the DVD which comes packed with extra features. Also included are a soundtrack CD from the stage musical, a collectible booklet and a model of the car itself.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Complete Collection £52.97

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Complete Collection

It's probably getting a bit boring coming to this site and seeing Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Complete Collection every month or so – and for that I apologise. But the price keeps going up then coming down, so it's worth me keeping on mentioning it!

This massive 39 disc boxset has all 144 episodes ever made of the US action/comedy/drama/horror series, along with a rather pitiful amount of bonus material – amounting to little more than a handful of deleted scenes and incredibly short featurettes.

Click here to buy this for £52.97 from Amazon.

Smallville: Seasons One to Eight £74.99

Smallville: Seasons One to Eight

Smallville is an American series which follows the adventures of Clark Kent before he becomes Superman, with the first four seasons focusing on his high school years then moving on to more adult settings – including a career at The Daily Planet.

Inside the Smallville: Seasons One to Eight boxset you'll find the first 174 episodes of the show. Also included are so many extra features that it would take me about a year to list them all – suffice to say, audio commentaries and "making of" featurettes are just the tip of the iceberg.

To get this for £74.99 from Play.com, click here. Until the 23rd of April 2010 you can get this for £59.99 by entering the voucher code TVDISCOUNT at the checkout.

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (Blu-Ray) £5.47

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (Blu-Ray)

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem begins immediately after the events of Alien vs. Predator, revealing yet another new creature in the form of a "Predalien". What follows next can only be described as an all-out war between the two species on Earth, with us humans getting caught up in it all…again.

This high definition release of the film looks and sounds fantastic, plus it comes with tons of extra features as well. These include two audio commentaries, multiple "making of" featurettes, deleted scenes and still galleries.

Amazon have Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, on Blu-Ray, available for £5.47 – for more information, click here.

Monty Python: The Movies £9.85

The Monty Python: The Movies boxset contains a total of six cheap DVDs

It's fair to say that there were will probably never be another comedy group that is successful as Monty Python have been, especially when you consider the short-term thinking that seems to be rife amongst programme makers. Shame, as six members have shown that true talent lasts a lifetime…

Monty Python: The Movies is a six disc boxset that contains all four films the team have made together. And Now For Something Completely Different and Monty Python's The Meaning Of Life are both good, but both Monty Python And The Holy Grail and Monty Python's Life Of Brian stand as two of the best comedy movies ever made.

The Fourth Kind (Blu-Ray) £8.85

The Fourth Kind (Blu-Ray)

The Fourth Kind is an American science fiction/horror film that deals with alien abduction (this being the fourth kind of close encounter with aliens) and purports to be based on a true story, containing what are claimed to be actual clips and records made by a psychologist.

This high definition release looks and sounds brilliant, but it's a shame that there are only a collection of alternate and deleted scenes in way of extra features. If ever a movie seemed tailor-made for some interesting extras, it was this – ah well!

If you fancy The Fourth Kind, on Blu-Ray, click here to buy it for £8.85 from Zavvi. Definitely one of those cheap DVDs which will keep you entertained from start to finish.
