It’s hard to believe that Family Guy has been cancelled twice in the past - first in 2000, and then again in 2002. Thanks to strong DVD sales and large viewership of reruns Fox resumed the show in 2005, and it’s gone from strength to strength since then.

The Family Guy: Season Six release is a little confusing, as it actually contains the first 13 episodes from the fifth season! I have no idea why this is, but it’s very odd indeed.

300 (Blu-Ray) £9.98

300 probably isn’t the best example of high definition viewing, as the director made the picture grainy to ensure a better blend with the CGI. That being said, it still looks very good - just not as good as other more colorful films.

The movie itself is adapted from the Frank Miller graphic novel of the same name, and is a fictionalised re-telling of the Battle Of Thermopylae.

The X-Files: The Complete Collector’s Edition £74.98

Even though The X-Files has been off our screens for just over six years, there’s still a massive fan-base that will probably not be entirely happy until the story is completely wrapped up. Perhaps we’ll get all our answers in 2012…

The X-Files: The Complete Collector’s Edition is a humongous 61 disc set that not only contains all 202 episodes from the nine seasons made, but the first film (The X-Files: Fight The Future) as well.

Band Of Brothers £14.97

Although it’s one of the most expensive television productions ever made, Band Of Brothers is also one of the best. Across ten parts we see the experiences of E Company the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, United States Army 101st Airborne Division from their basic training through to the conclusion of World War II.

The Band Of Brothers boxset comes with the complete ten parts and some interesting bonus material. This includes two extensive documentaries and other bits and bobs.

Xena: Warrior Princess - The Ultimate Collection £56.97

Xena: Warrior Princess is a spin-off from American series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and chronicles Xena’s quest to seek redemption for her past sins as a ruthless warlord by using her fighting skills to help people.

Inside the massive Xena: Warrior Princess - The Ultimate Collection boxset you’ll find 36 discs which contain all 134 installments. Sadly there are no special features to speak of, unlike the Region 1 versions which have loads.

Gavin & Stacey: Series Two £9.90

The latest comedy series to make the jump from BBC Three to terrestrial TV is Gavin & Stacey. Gavin’s an ordinary boy from England and Stacey is an ordinary girl from Wales - who, after speaking on the phone to each other every day at work, meet, fall in love, and get married.

Gavin & Stacey: Series Two features the seven full episodes aired, plus there’s commentaries on selected episodes and interviews with the creators.

House: Seasons One To Three £10.93 Each

If you’ve heard anyone raving about how great House is, then the fact that House: Seasons One To Three are available for £10.93 each may make you consider picking up at least the first one to see what all the fuss is about.

For anyone who hasn’t heard of it, where have you been - the moon? Joking aside, it’s a medical drama series about a brilliant but sarcastic doctor who works with his team of top medical experts to solve seemingly impossible cases.

Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull: Special Edition £8

In comparison to the other Indiana Jones films, Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull is not quite as good - but don’t let that put you off. It still stands up well against many other movies in the adventure genre, and the nostalgia factor alone makes it worthy of a watch.

The Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull: Special Edition DVD comes with hours of behind the scenes footage looking at how it was produced (although there’s no commentary from Spielberg or Lucas, which isn’t all that surprising).

Instore at both Asda and Morrisons you can pick this up for £8.

The Adventures Of Young Indiana Jones From £17.99

During the creation of the third Indiana Jones film, the seeds were sown for a look at his early life with a little peek at his back-story. This led on to the creation of The Adventures Of Young Indiana Jones (or The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles as it was known when aired originally).

The Adventures Of Young Indiana Jones: Volume One - The Early Years is a 12 disc set which contains the first seven chapters. I should explain that these are the 1996 film versions, which are basically two episodes re-edited into chronological order.

The only unfortunate thing about these boxsets is that the scenes where an older Indiana Jones reminisces have been cut out. And yes, this does mean that Harrison Ford’s brief appearance in one episode is missing.

The Adventures Of Young Indiana Jones: Volume Two - The War Years contains yet more chapters for you to enjoy. Each set also comes with very detailed documentaries which look into the real-life stories featured.

It’s interesting to note that the series was actually cancelled in 1993, even though George Lucas had plans for many more episodes to be made. Shame, as he would have met Harry Houdini, Prince Hirohito of Japan, and Gandhi.

The Adventures Of Young Indiana Jones: Volume Three - The Years Of Change has the final feature-length chapters, as well as more documentaries that delve further into the interesting stories.

Pirates Of The Caribbean Trilogy £9.99

The three Pirates Of The Caribbean films made so far (there’s a fourth one in the pipeline, apparently) have all been very enjoyable, although I have to say that the last one was quite dark for something that kids would be interested in seeing.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean Trilogy boxset contains copies of Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, and Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End. Only the last one comes with any bonus material though.
