Jimmy Carr: Live Collection £9.98

Jimmy Carr: Live Collection

Jimmy Carr is very much one of those comedians who you either love or hate, as the jokes come thick and fast - and are usually quite offensive, especially if you have an ailment of some kind.

The Jimmy Carr: Live Collection boxset contains both the Jimmy Carr: Live and Jimmy Carr: Stand Up DVDs. Every Christmas generally sees a new one appearing, and this year it’s Jimmy Carr In Concert (which makes no sense, but hey ho!).

Amazon have this set available for £9.98 - for more information, click here.

Sony BDP-S350 Blu-Ray Player (With Six Blu-Rays) £199.99

Sony BDP-S350 Blu-Ray Player (With Six Blu-Rays)

Most people who buy Blu-Rays probably have a PlayStation 3 to play them on, but you can also get stand-alone Blu-Ray players too. These also play standard DVDs, and upscale them to look better than ever.

The Sony BDP-S350 doesn’t have the best specifications on the market, but will be more than satisfactory for the average person’s needs.

Pop in to Blockbuster and pick up the Sony BDP-S350 Blu-Ray Player, with six Blu-Rays, for £199.99. The titles are very good as well - being that they are Batman Begins, Casino Royale, Hancock, Iron Man, Mamma Mia!: The Movie, and Wall-E.

Hitch (Blu-Ray) £5

Hitch (Blu-Ray)

Will Smith stars in romantic comedy Hitch, which is about a professional matchmaker who makes a living teaching men how to attract women. His skills are put to the test though when he begins to fall in love with a beautiful gossip columnist.

Hitch, on Blu-Ray, looks much better than the standard DVD version - which isn’t surprising, as it’s in high definition. There are also a couple of short featurettes and a blooper reel.

Instore at Marks & Spencer (yes, really!) you can pick this up for only £5.

Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series £15.89

Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series

The original 1978 version of Battlestar Galactica only last for one full season, but still has a cult following - as well as a more recent (and arguably better) re-imagining. One of the most recognisable faces in this was Dirk Benedict, who is probably better known as Templeton "Faceman" Peck from The A-Team.

Inside the seven disc Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series boxset you’ll find all 24 episode, plus over three hours of bonus material. This includes some two hours of deleted scenes, an interview with the creator, and a "making of" documentary.

Transformers: Special Edition (HD-DVD) £2.99

Transformers: Special Edition (HD-DVD)

It was well worth the wait for a big-screen version of Transformers, and I’m personally looking forward to the sequel (Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen) which is due out in 2009.

The Transformers: Special Edition HD-DVD release comes with all of the bonus material found on the standard DVD version, except that everything is in high definition. HD-DVD is dead, long live HD-DVD!

Angel was a critically-acclaimed spin-off from Buffy The Vampire Slayer (which you can still get the full collection of for £59.98 from Amazon), that follows her ex-boyfriend as he moves to Los Angeles. Lost From £12.97

Lost: The Complete First Series

Hit US show Lost has been on something of a roller-coaster ride since it began back in 2004. It started off very well, then went downhill a bit, and has just recently started to become unmissable viewing again - just in time for the conclusion in 2010 then!

Lost: The Complete First Series contains the first gripping 24 episodes, along with a whole host of special features. These include multiple featurettes, an audio commentary on the "Hearts And Minds" episode, and some deleted scenes.

To get this set for £12.97 from Amazon, click here.

Lost: The Complete Second Series

Moving on to the second year, we learn more about the inhabitants of the island and discover that there are more survivors. The reason for the plane crash is also revealed, along with some information on the mysterious people known as The Others.

Lost: The Complete Second Series features a batch of 23 installments, along with some more bonus material. This amounts to more audio commentaries and featurettes that look at the stories behind the show.

Click here to get this boxset for £19.97 from Amazon.

Lost: The Complete Third Series

The start of the third season was a bit of a let down as there were far too many new mysteries, with little to no answers being given (which grates after a while). However, as it went on more answers were forthcoming - and a couple of the rather poor newcomers were killed off as well.

Lost: The Complete Third Series has a further 23 episodes for you to enjoy, and, yes, there’s yet more bonus material to be found on this set too. More audio commentaries, featurettes, and deleted scenes are included.

To get this for £20.47 from Amazon, click here.
