Pride And Prejudice (Blu-Ray) £17.99

Pride And Prejudice (Blu-Ray)

The BBC adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride And Prejudice is quite possibly the best on-screen version produced so far. Colin Firth is excellent as the proud and enigmatic Mr Darcy, and the rest of the cast are equally as good in their roles - even if they are less well known than Firth.

Pride And Prejudice, on Blu-Ray, has never looked better than it does here. In fact, there’s been a complete scene-by-scene restoration of the picture.

Laurel & Hardy: The Collection £44.99

Laurel & Hardy: The Collection

Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy quite rightly go down in history as one of the best comedy duos ever. Even in these modern times, it’s very easy to spend hours watching them at work - and what better way to do it than with Laurel & Hardy: The Collection.

This huge 21 disc set contains many of their best work, and some of the films are also presented in colour (which is pretty rare).

If you fancy this, click here to buy it for £44.99 from Play.com.

A History Of Britain: The Complete Series £34.99

A History Of Britain: The Complete Series

I’m a big fan of the documentaries shown on the BBC, such as Planet Earth, and A History Of Britain is another brilliant series. Simon Schama looks at the history of the British Isles across 15 episodes, which each allow him to examine a particular period and and tell of its events in his own style.

A History Of Britain: The Complete Series contains all of these installments, as well as some interesting bonus material. This includes a couple of interviews with the presenter, and a one hour lecture from him too.

Return Of The Saint: The Complete Series £22.98

Return Of The Saint: The Complete Series

Roger Moore starred in the original run of The Saint, but declined to come back for 1978 series Return Of The Saint. Ian Ogilvy took over the role of Simon Templar, a more stylish Robin Hood who steals from the wealthy and catches "real" criminals.

All 24 episodes can be found in the Return Of The Saint: The Complete Series boxset. There are no extra features to be found, which is a pity as it would be nice to hear from either Roger Moore or Ian Ogilvy.

Amazon are selling this set of cheap DVDs for the lower price of £22.98 - click here for more details.

Mind Your Language: The Complete Series £15.99

Mind Your Language: The Complete Series

These days, shows like Mind Your Language would never make it on air as they would be deemed politically incorrect or racist. It’s set in a school for adult students and focuses on the "English As A Foreign Language" class taught by Mr Jeremy Brown, who has to deal with a motley crew of foreigners.

Mind Your Language: The Complete Series is a four disc set, that is technically not the full series! The fourth season is completely missing, and there is also one episode missing from each of the three seasons contained in it.

Cloverfield: Special Edition £6.99

The Cloverfield: Special Edition DVD comes with two cheap DVDs filled with extras

If a giant monster really attacked New York, I can imagine the events of Cloverfield would be quite the same in real-life - people more interested in looting shops and taking pictures on their camera phones, instead of getting away from any danger.

The Cloverfield: Special Edition DVD is a double disc set that comes with some interesting bonus material that looks at the making of the film. There’s also a few deleted scenes, which include at least one alternative ending.

Steven Seagal Boxset £14.99

Steven Seagal Boxset

Steven Seagal is known for making action films that appeal to those of us who enjoy no-brainer movies. Considering it sometimes appears as though he has no brain, I feel it’s quite apt.

This Steven Seagal boxset contains eight of his most memorable films - namely Nico, Out For Justice, Under Siege, Under Siege 2: Dark Territory, Executive Decision, The Glimmer Man, Fire Down Below, and Exit Wounds.

Fantastic Four And Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer Double Pack (Blu-Ray) £17.95

Fantastic Four And Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer Double Pack (Blu-Ray)

With nearly every big comic book franchise being turned into a film, much was expected of the Fantastic Four. Sadly, the distinct lack of action and poor science lets it down - however, the portrayals of Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm are both very good (and Jessica Alba is in it too, which is a nice bonus).

I really didn’t like the sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer. The cast all returned, but there seemed to be something missing - perhaps we’ve been spoiled by the brilliant versions of Batman and Spider-Man.

Zavvi have the Fantastic Four And Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer double pack, on Blu-Ray, available for £17.95 - for more information, click here. They also have the Alien Vs Predator: Collector’s Boxset for the same price, don’t ya know?!?
