The Simpsons: The Complete First Season £9.93

The Simpsons: The Complete First Season

The Simpsons is now not only the longest-running animated show in some time, but also one of the funniest – even if the quality has dipped quite a bit in the past few years, it's still head and shoulders above many other comedy series'.

Inside The Simpsons: The Complete First Season boxset you'll find the first 13 episodes, along with hours of bonus material. This includes audio commentaries on every installment, an unaired version of "Some Enchanted Evening", outtakes and other short bits and pieces.

Casino Royale: Deluxe Edition (Blu-Ray) £8

The Casino Royale: Deluxe Edition (Blu-Ray) is one of those cheap DVDs worth getting for the extras alone

The 21st James Bond film signalled the beginning of the Daniel Craig era as Bond. Casino Royale also turned out to be one of the best in the entire series – which was somewhat shocking to those who criticised the decision to give Craig the role.

The Casino Royale: Deluxe Edition, on Blu-Ray, has identical picture and sound quality to the original release – however, this one is packed to the rafters with extra features (of which there are far too many to even begin to list here).

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (Blu-Ray) £9.99

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (Blu-Ray)

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is a computer-animated film based on the children's novel of the same name. It follows hapless inventor Flint Lockwood as he actually makes something which works – the problem being that his food replicator turns bad and threatens to destroy the world…

This high definition release of the movie looks and sounds fantastic, plus it comes with the DVD version as well. Also included are hours of bonus material, such as an audio commentary with the directors, deleted scenes, and featurettes looking at the making of the film.

ShopTo are selling Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, on Blu-Ray, for £9.99 – click here for more details. Certainly one of those cheap DVDs that will keep kids and adults alike entertained.

The Marvel Heroes Boxset £6.85

The Marvel Heroes Boxset

Comic book fans have been spoiled in recent years, with some astoundingly good films being made starring their favourite characters. With yet more on the way, this is one genre that will only go from strength to strength in the future – especially when another Batman movie comes along!

The Marvel Heroes Boxset contains six films that are well worth seeing. Daredevil, Elektra, Fantastic Four, X-Men, X2, and X-Men: The Last Stand vary in quality, but most are pretty darn good.

Click here to buy this set for £6.85 from The Hut.

Hornblower: The Complete Collection £9.99

Hornblower: The Complete Collection

While it's more common to see some terrible new reality show or equally bad drama, there was a time when ITV produced some high quality programming – with Hornblower being perhaps one of the last such examples, I'm sorry to say.

Inside the Hornblower: The Complete Collection boxset you'll find all eight of the feature-length episodes based on the C.S. Forrester novels. Sadly there are no extra features included, which is a tad annoying when you consider that the U.S. version has loads!

Harry Potter: Years One to Six (Blu-Ray) £34.99

Harry Potter: Years One to Six (Blu-Ray)

Harry Potter is not only one of those characters which has managed to capture the hearts and minds of both children and adults alike, but has also managed to survive the often difficult transition from page to screen relatively intact (though I'm sure some fans would disagree).

The Harry Potter: Years One to Six (Blu-Ray) boxset contains all of the films released in high definition thus far – the even better news is that every single one of the extras from the Special Edition DVDs have been included as well.

Man on Fire: Collector’s Edition £2.93

Man on Fire: Collector's Edition

Man on Fire sees Denzel Washington playing the role of a soldier of fortune who has pretty much given up on life, until a child he reluctantly agrees to protect, after a spate of kidnappings, is abducted – bringing his fiery rage to a head…

The Man on Fire: Collector's Edition set comes with hours of bonus material, some of which is actually pretty good. On the first disc is an audio commentary with director Tony Scott, plus some deleted scenes and a "making of" featurette – the second holds the extensive "Vengeance is Mine" documentary, a music video and some storyboards.

Click here to get this for only £2.93 from Asda.

The first disc contains 23 of his greatest hits, whilst the second holds the "I'd Know Him a Mile Off!" feature-length documentary and three bonus tracks.

If you fancy this, click here to buy it for £6.99 from CD-WOW.

Ocean’s Eleven (Blu-Ray) £5

Cheap DVDs like the Ocean's Eleven (Blu-Ray) are well worth adding to your collection

Ocean's Eleven is a decent 2001 remake of the 1960 Rat Pack caper film of the same name. Featuring an impressive cast, which includes George Clooney and Brad Pitt, this proved popular enough with both critics and viewers that two sequels were subsequently produced.

This high definition release of the movie has fantastic picture and sound quality, as you'd expect, plus it comes with all of the extras from the DVD version – two audio commentaries and two rather dull "making of" featurettes.

Click here to get Ocean's Eleven, on Blu-Ray, for £5 from Tesco.
