Robot Chicken: Season One £3.97

Robot Chicken: Season One

Being that it's both short in length, with episodes running for roughly 11 minutes each, and filmed using stop motion animation, it's slightly surprising that Robot Chicken has managed to become one of the most successful shows on the U.S. network Adult Swim – though it is much funnier than programmes with bigger budgets and live-action people.

Inside the Robot Chicken: Season One double disc set you'll find the first 20 installments of the series. Additional webtoons are also included, but it's a shame that one or two sketches have been altered due to legal problems.

24: Season Eight (Blu-Ray) £25.97

24: Season Eight (Blu-Ray)

Even though we're not quite up to the halfway point in the eighth year of Jack Bauer's hectic association with C.T.U., this has probably been one of the most watchable yet – which is quite something for a show which relies on explosions and death around every corner!

This 24: Season Eight (Blu-Ray) boxset isn't due for release until October, so it's yet to be confirmed what will be included in it. What I can guarantee is the best picture and sound quality around – along with commentaries and featurettes, no doubt.

Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy (Blu-Ray) £24.99

Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy (Blu-Ray)

The Pirates of the Caribbean films have each been brilliant, even if the third one was a little too dark for children (killing kids at the start seemed a bit wrong for a Disney movie). Bit odd that they're based on a theme park ride, but whatever works!

With the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy boxset, on Blu-Ray, you get all three movies in high definition – all packed to the rafters with hours of bonus material as well, ranging from audio commentaries through to documentaries and deleted scenes.

Taking Woodstock (Blu-Ray) £9.99

Taking Woodstock (Blu-Ray)

Based on the Elliot Tiber memoir "Taking Woodstock: A True Story of a Riot, a Concert and a Life" about the 1969 festival, Taking Woodstock is unique in that it doesn't actually contain any musical performances – which is a tad strange, it has to be said.

This high definition release has excellent picture and sound quality, as you'd expect, plus it comes with a fair few extra features too. These include an audio commentary, three featurettes on the making of the movie and a handful of deleted scenes.

HMV have Taking Woodstock, on Blu-Ray, available for £9.99 – for more information, click here.

The World at War £17.99

The World at War

The World at War is a 26-part documentary series on World War II and the events leading up to, and immediately following, it. Such was the depth of its research, it took four years to produce at a very high cost – although it's since become considered by many to be the finest example of the documentary form.

Inside this 11 disc set you'll find every episode ever made, plus a wide range of bonus material. This includes eight bonus documentaries, an hour-long "making of" feature, speeches, songs and newsreels, a photo gallery, and a collection of maps.

Inspector Morse: The Complete Case Files £39.95

The Inspector Morse: The Complete Case Files

Colin Dexter's popular novels about Inspector Morse were turned into an equally popular series that starred the late John Thaw as the intelligent, but flawed, policeman. In fact, there were twenty more episodes than there were novels!

The Inspector Morse: The Complete Case Files boxset is a whopping 33 disc set that contains all 33 episodes ever made, as well as some production galleries. A tribute to Thaw would have been a nice addition, but you can't have everything I suppose.

Charlie’s Angels: The Complete Third Season £3.43

Charlie's Angels: The Complete Third Season contains a total of six cheap DVDs

Perhaps better known for the physical attributes of the females who starred in it than for gripping drama, Charlie's Angels was nevertheless quite good for it's time – though it may get a bit odd perving over women who are well into their 50's!

Inside the Charlie's Angels: The Complete Third Season boxset you'll find all 22 episodes from the first year that Farah Fawcett starting making guest appearances in. No extra features sadly, which feels like something of a missed opportunity.

Predator 2: Special Edition £2.85

Predator 2: Special Edition

Predator 2 is a sequel to the successful 1987 original starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, although this time around it has an entirely different cast (save for Kevin Peter Hall portraying the Predator again, and a brief cameo from Elpidia Carrillo) and is set in Los Angeles.

The Predator 2: Special Edition release is a double disc set which comes with hours of bonus material. The first contains two audio commentaries, whilst the second holds an extensive "making of" documentary and some short featurettes on things like weapons and optical effects.

Flight of the Conchords: Seasons One and Two £14.99

Flight of the Conchords: Seasons One and Two

Although it was very popular both with critics and viewers, sadly there will be no more Flight of the Conchords episodes produced. Shame, but I suppose there is an outside (very outside) chance that a film may appear at some point – don't hold your breath though!

Anyway, inside the Flight of the Conchords: Seasons One and Two boxset you'll find all 22 installments. The fact that there doesn't appear to be any extra features is a bit confusing though – surely a commentary or two wouldn't have been that difficult to arrange?
