Happy Days: The Second Season £3.85

Happy Days: The Second Season

Running for ten years between 1974 and 1984, Happy Days presented an idealised vision of life in mid-50's to mid-60's America. It also blasted Henry Winkler to fame as "The Fonz", and even helped give Robin Williams come to the attention of the public (Mork and Mindy was a spin-off from Happy Days as well).

Inside the Happy Days: The Second Season boxset you'll find all 23 episodes that make up the second year. Sadly there are no special features, but I'm sure that fans of the show will be happy just to be able to see them all again!

If you fancy this, click here to buy it for £3.85 from Zavvi.

Shigurui: Death Frenzy (Blu-Ray) £6.48

Shigurui: Death Frenzy (Blu-Ray)

Noted for its realistic graphic violence and nudity, Shigurui: Death Frenzy is a manga series based on the first chapter of the novel Suruga-j? Gozen Jiai by Norio Nanj?. Running for a total of 13 episodes, this is certainly something fans won't want to miss…

People are still unsure whether animation works in high definition, but I'm firmly in the "yes it does" camp – almost anything looks better in HD! This is no exception, and you'll be glad to hear that there are some interesting special features included as well (such as audio commentaries, production artwork and the ability to play each installment consecutively).

Amazon are selling Shigurui: Death Frenzy, on Blu-Ray, for £6.48 – click here for more details.

The Brad Pitt Collection £7.99

The Brad Pitt Collection

I could easily make a sexist comment and say that only women would be interested in The Brad Pitt Collection, but I'd be wrong to do so – almost all of the films in this set are very good indeed.

Contained in it are copies of Fight Club, Kalifornia, Mr & Mrs Smith, A River Runs Through It and Thelma & Louise (the latter two are a bit meh, but the rest are fantastic).

Click here to buy this set for £7.99 from Play.com.

Ip Man (Blu-Ray) £7.99

Ip Man (Blu-Ray)

Ip Man is a semi-autobiographical martial arts film based on the life of Ip Man, a grandmaster of the martial art Wing Chun and the first person to teach it openly – one of his students being somebody called Bruce Lee (nope, I've never heard of him either).

This high definition release has the best picture and sound quality around, plus you also get some fairly decent extra features as well. These include nearly an hour and a half of interviews, "making of" and "From Ip Man to Bruce Lee" featurettes, and some deleted scenes.

Thirst (2009) (Blu-Ray) is one of those cheap DVDs you must see

Thirst (2009) is a Korean drama/horror film which is loosely based on the novel Therese Raquin by Emile Zola. It tells the story of a priest, who is in love with his friend's wife, turning into a vampire after a failed medical experiment – as you do.

The picture and sound quality are top notch, as you'd expect with a high definition release, plus there are also a couple of interviews with director Park Chan-wook not found on any other version.

HMV have Thirst (2009), on Blu-Ray, available for £9.99 – for more information, click here.

Eddie Izzard: 7 £14.98

Eddie Izzard: 7

Considered by many to be one of the best stand-up comedians that this country has ever produced, Eddie Izzard has in recent times gone down the same route as many of his peers and tried out some straight acting roles – we'll still remember him (like Hugh Laurie) for his comedy though.

Inside the Eddie Izzard: 7 boxset you'll find all seven of his stand-up DVD's that have been released thus far. Unrepeatable, Definite Article, Glorious, Dress to Kill, Circle, Sexie, and Stripped are all worth spending some quality time with.

If you fancy this set, click here to buy it for £14.98 from Amazon.

Roobarb and Custard Too £2.99

Roobarb and Custard Too: Volume One - Here Comes Trouble    Roobarb and Custard Too: Volume Two - Mischief and Mayhem

Roobarb and Custard Too is something of a follow up to the classic animated series Roobarb, which plays off the loving rivalry between a green dog and a pink cat. Grange Calveley returns as the writer of the episodes, plus the unmistakable voice of Richard Briers is back to narrated them as well.

Inside the Roobarb and Custard Too: Volume One – Here Comes Trouble DVD, you'll find the first ten installments. Not surprisingly, Roobarb and Custard Too: Volume Two – Mischief and Mayhem has the next ten.

Click here to get the former, or click here to get the latter – both of which are £2.99 each at HMV.

The Dark Knight and Batman Begins Limited Edition Double Pack (Blu-Ray) £12.99

The Dark Knight and Batman Begins Limited Edition Double Pack (Blu-Ray)

Tim Burton was for a long time considered by many to be the best Batman director, and rightfully so as both Batman and Batman Returns are excellent films, but that was until Christopher Nolan came along – with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, it's difficult to see how anyone can make a better superhero movie.

This The Dark Knight and Batman Begins limited edition double pack, on Blu-Ray, contains both films in glorious high definition. Also included are a wide range of special features from the respective DVD releases, most of which are in HD themselves.

Click here to get this for £12.99 from Play.com.
