Babylon 5: The Complete Collection and The Lost Tales £53.85

Babylon 5: The Complete Collection and The Lost Tales

It's often annoying that full season sets are released some time after individual releases, but more often than not they're worth the wait – as is the case with Babylon 5: The Complete Collection and The Lost Tales.

This bloody massive 42 disc set not only contains all the episodes from the standard series, it has the full spin-off season of Crusade and six feature-length TV movies as well. This special Amazon boxset is also the only one which includes The Lost Tales (which is a set of mini-stories featuring established characters from the show).

Spider-Man Trilogy (Blu-Ray) £17.99

Spider-Man Trilogy (Blu-Ray)

After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, 2002 saw the debut of Spider-Man on the big screen – and what a debut it was. Fantastic special effects and an excellent storyline, combined with an impressive cast list, made for the best superhero movie of all-time (now it's fair to say that The Dark Knight has moved the bar even higher).

The Spider-Man Trilogy, on Blu-Ray, is a boxset which contains all three films that have been made so far. All look stunning in high definition, and sound just as good as well.

The Shield: Deluxe Edition £46

The Shield is a American drama series which has proved controversial for its depiction of police officers as corrupt. Interestingly enough, it's based on a real-life scandal in the 70's – where the anti-gang unit of the LAPD were implicated in a wide range of illegal activity.

Inside The Shield: Deluxe Edition boxset you'll find all 88 episodes. There are also a fair few extra features included, but please note that the final installment of season five has been cut quite a bit (no idea why though).

Amazon have this set available for £46 – for more information, click here.

RoboCop Trilogy (Blu-Ray) £17.99

The forthcoming RoboCop Trilogy (Blu-Ray) boxset will contain at least three cheap DVDs

RoboCop is certainly one of the most iconic figures in science-fiction film history, even if he's only really appeared in one truly excellent movie – thankfully the planned remake has been put on indefinite hold as well (let's hope that if it does appear in the future, it's not as a remake).

Anyway, the forthcoming RoboCop Trilogy (Blu-Ray) release will contain RoboCop, RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3 in glorious high definition. No word on bonus material, but I'll take a stab in the dark and predict all of the extras from the standard DVD version will make their way across.

Homicide: Life on the Street – The Complete Collection £39.95

Homicide: Life on the Street - The Complete Collection

After The Wire became a massive hit on both sides of the Atlantic, it would be easy to forget that the creator David Simon was also behind Homicide: Life on the Street – another drama series that looks at criminal activities on the streets of Baltimore.

Inside the Homicide: Life on the Street – The Complete Collection boxset you'll find a whopping 33 discs which contain all 122 episodes ever produced. Sadly there doesn't appear to be any extra features, but you can't have everything I suppose.

If you fancy this, click here to buy it for £39.95 from Zavvi.

Angel: The Complete Collection £49.97

Angel: The Complete Collection

Spin-off shows often either end up being cancelled as they're crap (see Joey for a good example), or running out of steam (like Mork and Mindy). Angel bucked the trend though, by being both more entertaining and sometimes even getting better ratings than Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Inside the Angel: The Complete Collection boxset you'll find all 110 episodes that were made. Strange that it lasted five seasons, as I was of the mistaken belief that it was much longer than that.

Amazon are selling this set for £49.97 – click here for more details.

Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima Collector’s Edition Double Pack £6.99

Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima Collector's Edition Double Pack

It's very unusual for a director to make two films back-to-back, but Clint Eastwood did just that with both Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima. Each tell the story of the Battle of Iwo Jima (during World War II) – however, Flags of our Fathers is told from an American point-of-view, while Letters from Iwo Jima gives us the view from a Japanese perspective.

The Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima Collector's Edition double pack is a four disc boxset that contains both excellent movies plus a whole raft of bonus material on the making of both of them.

Planet of the Apes Collection £7.49

Planet of the Apes Collection

If you've only seen the remake of Planet of the Apes, please do yourself a favour and get the Planet of the Apes Collection. This contains the five original films made – and trust me, they are each about a billion times better than the Tim Burton fiasco.

In this six disc boxset not only do you get the five movies (Planet of the Apes, Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Escape from the Planet of the Apes, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes and Battle for Planet of the Apes), but you also get the extensive "Journey Back to the Planet of the Apes" documentary which is hosted by star Roddy McDowall.

Alien and Predator: Total Destruction Collection £9.99

Alien and Predator: Total Destruction Collection

It's obvious to anyone with eyes that the two Alien vs. Predator films have been woeful when compared to the other movies in each respective franchise. The acting and dialogue in both are terrible, and the sheer amount of gore in Alien vs. Predator: Requiem is enough to make Freddy Krueger blush.

The Alien and Predator: Total Destruction Collection is a nine disc set which contains nearly every film starring our two favourite, but horrific, mutant beasties – Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien: Resurrection, Predator, Predator 2, Alien vs. Predator, and Alien vs. Predator: Requiem.

HMV have this available for £9.99 – for more information, click here.
