Though Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer are more commonly known for their slightly mental comedy routines, they did actually have semi-serious roles in the remake of Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) – which is about a detective who dies and then comes back to assist his former partner.

Only 13 episodes were ever made in total, all of which can now be yours on DVD. Special features can also be found on the first release, including a "making of" documentary, outtakes and a music video.

Spitting Image: Series One And Two £7.93 Each

Spitting Image was a British satirical puppet show which aired on ITV between 1984 and 1996. Although incredibly popular when Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister, as soon as John Major came to power the programme ran out of steam – he was simply too boring to be funny!

Most of the series’ are being released on DVD now, which will make fans ecstatic, though there is no sign of any bonus material being included – which feels like something of a missed opportunity.

Men Behaving Badly: Six Pack £15.93

Men Behaving Badly was a British comedy series that followed the lives of flatmates Gary Strang and Tony Smart. Interestingly, this first started on ITV and then moved to the BBC after one series – where it went on to become a huge success.

The Men Behaving Badly: Six Pack contains every episode from series one to six, but sadly doesn’t include the "Jingle Balls!" Christmas Special or the final three extended episodes. Ah well!

Harold Lloyd: The Definitive Collection £17.87

Although Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton are perhaps the most well-known silent comedians, we shouldn’t forget the work that Harold Lloyd did as well. His ridiculously high pricing for showing his films on television made his reputation and public recognition suffer, but the quality of work should ensure we never forget how good he was.

Harold Lloyd: The Definitive Collection is a nine disc set that contains nearly all of the feature films he made, along with some of his best short films and various featurettes. There’s also an audio commentary on "Safety Last!" with his friend Rich Correll and critic Leonard Maltin.

A History Of Britain: The Complete Series £17.89

I’m a big fan of the documentaries shown on the BBC, such as Planet Earth, and A History Of Britain is another brilliant series. Simon Schama looks at the history of the British Isles across 15 episodes, which each allow him to examine a particular period and and tell of its events in his own style.

A History Of Britain: The Complete Series contains all of these installments, as well as some interesting bonus material. This includes a couple of interviews with the presenter, and a one hour lecture from him too.

The League Of Gentlemen: Box Of Delights £4.85

With its dark humour and very odd characters, The League Of Gentlemen quickly became a highlight on the BBC2 schedules – which in turn led to a couple of live tours and a, somewhat disappointing to many fans of the show, feature-length film.

The League Of Gentlemen: Box Of Delights contains the aforementioned The League Of Gentlemen: Apocalypse movie and The League Of Gentlemen: Live At Drury Lane and The League Of Gentlemen: Are Behind You live DVDs.

Alien Nation: The Complete Series £9.73

Alien Nation is a science fiction programme made in 1989 which is loosely based on the film of the same name. Storylines generally revolved around morality plays on the evils of racism and bigotry using the humanoid species known as the Newcomers as the the discriminated minority.

Inside the Alien Nation: The Complete Series boxset you’ll find all 22 episodes ever produced. Also included are an audio commentary with creator Kenneth Johnson on the two-hour pilot and a "behind the scenes" featurette.

Comic Book Triple Pack £3.85

Comic book films are quite a hit and miss bunch – for every The Dark Knight or Spider-Man, we get Elektra or The Fantastic Four in return. This particular comic book triple pack contains two good ‘uns and a stinker, so it could be worse!

The two decent movies are Hellboy and The Punisher (which I personally think is very underrated), but you also get Ghost Rider which is a big steaming pile of turd. And to think Nicolas Cage used to be considered a decent actor.

There are a handful of the Screen Goddess Collection boxsets available from Zavvi fo £4.85 each, inside which you’ll find six films from a particular actress.

Darn good value these sets of cheap DVDs are too – it works out at around 81p per movie!

The Lord Of The Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy £8.93

Each entry in The Lord Of The Rings series is as good as the one before, which is impressive when you consider the pressure Peter Jackson must have been under at the time – the books they are based on have been around for years, and are well-loved by many.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy boxset contains all three double disc releases of each film. These in turn have many hours of bonus material, including deleted scenes and countless featurettes.
