The Beiderbecke Trilogy: 21st Anniversary Edition £11.95

The Beiderbecke Trilogy: 21st Anniversary Edition

The Beiderbecke Trilogy refers to three television serials ("The Beiderbecke Affair", "The Beiderbecke Tapes", and "The Beiderbecke Connection") that were aired on ITV between 1984 and 1987, which centre around the lives of two schoolteachers who work at a rundown comprehensive school in Leeds.

Inside this The Beiderbecke Trilogy: 21st Anniversary Edition boxset you'll find five discs containing all 12 episodes, along with the "Get Lost!" mini-series and some cast interviews. Also included is a bonus soundtrack CD that highlights some of the top-notch jazz music used throughout.

Transformers (Blu-Ray) £7.99

Transformers (Blu-Ray)

Many people of a certain age will remember the animated series of Transformers with a fond heart, even if it was basically a glorified advert for the accompanying toy line – although this is a tad bit cynical (though somewhat grounded in truth).

The big-screen version took a fair while to make it to cinemas, but when it did we were rewarded with something that surpassed expectations in a big way. The sequel has since been released too, but the least said about it the better I'm afraid…

If you fancy Transformers, on Blu-Ray, click here to buy it for £7.99 from Gameplay.

Horton Hears a Who! (Blu-Ray) £6.85

Horton Hears a Who! (Blu-Ray)

Not just content with being one of the best comedy actors of all time, Jim Carrey has decided in more recent times to lend his talent to the animated field as well – with Horton Hears a Who!, which is based on the Dr Seuss book of the same name, being one of the better efforts.

This high definition version of the movie looks and sounds absolutely fantastic, plus it comes with all of the bonus material from the DVD. This includes an audio commentary with the directors, the "Surviving Sid" short film, nine deleted scenes, an interactive game and tons of featurettes on the making of the movie.

Ultimate Rambo Collection £8.95

The Ultimate Rambo Collection contains four cheap DVDs

If you're an action movie fan and haven't seen any of the Rambo films, I command you to purchase the Ultimate Rambo Collection boxset right this second – seriously, it's something that you really will come back to time and time again.

In it you'll find four of the best examples of how to do the genre well. Be warned though, the most recent one (confusingly titled "Rambo") is incredibly violent – some would say a little bit too much so.

If you fancy this set, click here to buy it for £8.95 from Zavvi.

Thunderbirds: The Complete Series £14.99

Thunderbirds: The Complete Series

It's a little surprising (to me anyway) that Thunderbirds only lasted for two series', and that only 32 episodes were made in total. Considering it's still very popular even now is proof that quality television stands the test of time – this is now 44 years old!

Thunderbirds: The Complete Series is a nine disc boxset that has all of these installments, plus it also comes loaded with bonus material. These include multiple featurettes on the characters and creation of the show, alongside interviews with some of the people who worked behind the scenes.

Click here to get this set for £14.99 from HMV.

MyMemory Buy One Get One Free Blu-Rays

There's a MyMemory Buy One Get One Free Blu-Rays promotion on at the moment, with over 120 titles to choose from – some of these have only been out a short time as well, which is nice.

District 9, Moon and Terminator: Salvation are the big standout highlights for me, but you may spot something I've missed (which is easily done).

Highlander (Blu-Ray) £7

Highlander (Blu-Ray)

As a long-time fan of Highlander (every episode of the TV series and all of the films watched, even the dreadful Source), I feel that I have the right to say what the hell was Sean Connery doing playing an Egyptian with a Spanish accent in a movie partially based in Scotland?!?

That aside, the first film in the franchise is one of the best fantasy movies ever made and has never looked nor sounded better than it does with this high definition release. Also included on the disc are an audio commentary with the director, a documentary, an interview with Christopher Lambert and some deleted scenes.

Tesco are selling Highlander, on Blu-Ray, for £7 – click here for more details on this cheap DVDs' availability.
