Rocky: The Complete Saga £7.97

Rocky: The Complete Saga

Anybody (be it man, woman, or child) can sit down and watch at least the first Rocky movie and feel incredibly moved by the events in it. Although the series has always been about a fighter rising through the ranks to the top, there’s an underlying message that many forget – hard work can make even the poorest man rich.

Rocky: The Complete Saga is a six disc boxset which contains every film featuring Sylvester Stallone as "The Italian Stallion" Rocky Balboa, including the brilliant final chapter that shares its title with our hero.

Friends: The One With All Ten Seasons £59.71

Friends: The One With All Ten Seasons contains a whopping 30 cheap DVDs

Friends is an American sitcom about a group of friends (surprisingly enough) living in the area of Manhattan in New York City. Although it finished some four years ago, ratings are still very respectable for the repeat airings – which is probably why it’s on e4 all the bleeding time.

Friends: The One With All Ten Seasons is a huge 30 disc boxset that contains all 236 episodes ever made. I’m sure a film will come along at some point, but this should keep you busy until it does!

The 4400 is a science fiction series about a group of people who have been deposited at Highland Beach, in the Cascade Range foothills near Mount Rainier, Washington. Each had disappeared at various times since 1946, and none have aged since the time of their disappearance – confused and disoriented, they remember nothing between the two times…

Inside The 4400: The Complete Series boxset you’ll find 15 discs which contain all 45 episodes ever made. Also included are a number of audio commentaries, featurettes and deleted scenes.

Tess Of The D’Urbervilles (2008) £7.89

While it’s certainly not one of the cheeriest of tales, Thomas Hardy’s Tess Of The D’Urbervilles has nevertheless been adapted more times than I’ve had hot dinners. This 2008 version is the most recent, and stars the lovely Gemma Arterton in the lead role.

Sadly it appears as though there are little to no extra features included, but when you consider that this is regarded as one of the better versions of the story it shouldn’t matter too much.

Sendit.com have Tess Of The D’Urbervilles (2008) available for £7.89 – for more information, click here.

A Night To Remember £2.99

A Night To Remember is a 1958 Golden Globe winning adaptation of the Walter Lord book of the same name. This reenactment of the final night of the RMS Titanic is considered the most historically accurate depiction of the event so far (although there are one or two mistakes).

The DVD isn’t exactly full of bonus material, but the original trailers are nice to see and the comprehensive documentary on the making of the movie is actually very interesting.

The Norman Wisdom Collection £17.93

The Norman Wisdom Collection

If you’re a fan of classic comedy, you’ll no doubt know who Norman Wisdom is. The thing that I find most interesting about him is that he’s massively popular in Albania – he was the only Western actor whose movies were allowed in the country during the dictatorship of Enver Hoxha.

The Norman Wisdom Collection contains 12 of his best films (including Trouble In Store and  Press For Time), as well as four audio commentaries from the great man and some interviews with him as well.

Creature Comforts: Complete Series Two £2.43

The Creature Comforts: Complete Series Two boxset contains three cheap DVDs

Creature Comforts started off life as a 1989 short film about how animals feel about living in a zoo, and later became a collection of commercials. In 2003 ITV commissioned a full series of animated shorts, which normally ran for around 10 minutes each.

Inside the Creature Comforts: Complete Series Two boxset you’ll find all 13 episodes, including the "Merry Christmas Everybody!" special (which runs for 22 minutes instead of the usual 10). There’s also a few featurettes that look at the making of the programme as well.

Since Family Guy had become a roaring success, creator Seth MacFarlane felt the need to flex his comedic chops somewhat and decided to try an animated comedy with more clever humour – giving birth to American Dad!, which follows the life of C.I.A. agen Stan Smith.

Each volume comes with a varying amount of episodes, along with many hours of bonus material (which include the usual suspects of audio commentaries, featurettes, deleted scenes and outtakes).

HMV have American Dad!: Volume One (click here), American Dad!: Volume Two (click here), and American Dad!: Volume Three (click here) available for £9.99 each – you can also click here to get American Dad!: Volume Four for the slightly higher price of £11.99.

Bronson (Blu-Ray) £8.95

Bronson is a biographical crime film that follows the life of notorious prisoner Michael Gordon Peterson, who was renamed Charles Bronson by his fight promoter. He is perhaps best known in this country for spending most of his time behind bars in solitary confinement.

This high definition release of the movie looks and sounds absolutely fantastic, and also comes with the same extras as the standard DVD version. These include an audio commentary, "making of" documentary, cast and crew introductions, and an introduction to the film from Charles Bronson himself.

30 Rock: Season One £7.98

It’s often said that some of the funniest stuff in television actually goes on behind-the-scenes, which is very easy to believe if you watch 30 Rock. Taking place in a fictional live-action sketch show (the inspiration for which is Saturday Night Live), this is one of the best comedies around.

The 30 Rock: Season One boxset contains the first 21 episodes, along with audio commentaries on selected installments, outtakes and deleted scenes.

If you fancy this, click here to buy it for £7.98 from Amazon.
