Fight Club: Definitive Edition

For many years in the UK, Fight Club had some scenes that were deemed too violent removed. The Fight Club: Definitive Edition DVD restores these - although it has to be said that they don’t actually amount to much (around 7 seconds in total).

This DVD also contains all of the bonus material found on the US release, including four audio commentaries and deleted scenes. The usual array of featurettes on the making of the movie are to be found on the second disc as well.

Starship Troopers Trilogy (Blu-Ray) £16.17

Starship Troopers Trilogy (Blu-Ray)

Anyone who has seen the first Starship Troopers will tell you that it’s a good example of an over-the-top action film which entertains from beginning to end - the same people will probably also tell you to avoid the other two, as they are both a bit crap.

The Starship Troopers Trilogy boxset, on Blu-Ray, contains these three movies in glorious high definition. As ever with a Blu-Ray bargain, please make sure that you can play these discs before purchasing.

If you fancy this, click here to buy it for £16.17 from Tesco.

Lost: The Complete Fourth Season (Blu-Ray) £29.48

Lost: The Complete Fourth Season (Blu-Ray)

Although it was shortened a bit due to the writers strike, the fourth season of Lost was quite probably the best since the first one. Perhaps it had something to do with finding out who gets off the island…

Lost: The Complete Fourth Season, on Blu-Ray, contains all 14 episodes (16 were originally planned) and a few extra features.

The Company (2007) £5.43

The Company (2007)

The activities of the CIA during the Cold War are dramatised in The Company (2007). This mini-series is based on the Robert Littell novel of the same name, and stars Batman and Robin - OK it’s Michael Keaton and Chris O’Donnell, but they did play them!

Continuing the comic book theme, Doctor Octopus aka Alfred Molina also appears in this. I’m sure this wasn’t deliberate, and each actor was picked on his talent alone…probably.

Asda have this available for £5.43 - click here for more details.

The Tony Hancock Collection £27.45

The Tony Hancock Collection

Many of the episodes of Hancock’s Half Hour and Hancock have sadly either been wiped or destroyed, although some have managed to survive and appear in The Tony Hancock Collection.

This has the 39 total surviving episodes and a smattering of bonus material, including three audio commentaries and an interview with the late comedian.

Sunshine £2.92

Sunshine

Sunshine is a science fiction film about the crew of a spacecraft on a dangerous mission towards the sun, which is dying and must be re-ignited with a massive nuclear device.

The DVD comes with two separated audio commentaries, a short film, deleted scenes, and an alternate ending. It has to be said that the last third of the film will probably leave you feeling a little bit disappointed, by the way.

The Michael Palin Collection £44.99

The Michael Palin Collection is a huge boxset containing 16 cheap DVDs

Michael Palin was originally known as one of the members of the comedy group Monty Python, but has since become recognised as a travel documentary maker. Quite the difference, I think you’ll agree.

All of the series’ that he’s made so far (that have been released on DVD) are contained in The Michael Palin Collection, which is a huge 16 disc boxset.

EuroTrip £3.99

EuroTrip

The team behind production of both Road Trip and Old School also did EuroTrip, but it’s nowhere near as good as either of them. There is a fair amount of nudity though, if that sort of thing interests you (that’ll be everyone then!).

Plot-wise we follow four friends on a trip around Europe in search of Scott Thomas’ German pen-pal Mieke, whom he initially thinks is a guy but who he realises he has feelings for when he finds out it’s really a girl. Visits to London, Paris, Amsterdam, Bratislava, Berlin, and Rome bring all sorts of awkward and embarrassing situations…and nudity.

HMV are selling this DVD for £3.99 - for more information, click here.

Quantum Leap: The Complete Third Season £7.89

Quantum Leap: The Complete Third Season

Quantum Leap was a science fiction show that sees quantum physicist Sam Beckett leaping into different people in various points of history withing his own lifetime. The cigar smoking womaniser known as Al is the only link with his own time, and he appears as a hologram that most people other than Sam cannot see nor hear.

One of the best episodes made was "The Leap Home", and this two-parter appears alongside another 20 installments in the Quantum Leap: The Complete Third Season boxset.
