Family Guy: Season Four £7.93

Family Guy is an animated sitcom that holds the unique distinction of being the very first show to be resurrected on the strength of DVD sales, after it was initially cancelled in 2000 and then again in 2002 – which makes the fact that its now considered by many to be better than its biggest rival, The Simpsons, all the more impressive.

The UK DVD release of Family Guy: Season Four is actually slightly confusing, in that it actually contains the first 14 episodes from the fourth year. This is because it was released before even getting a chance to air on television in this country.

Primeval: Complete Series One And Two Boxset £8.98

When Doctor Who returned to our screens a few years ago, it was inevitable that ITV would try and come up with something to beat it. Their result? Primeval – a show about prehistoric creatures appearing on Earth.

The Primeval: Complete Series One And Two Boxset contains the first 13 episodes of the show, along with audio commentaries and a featurette on the making of the programme.

Films Of The Year Boxset £4.99

2006 was a pretty good year for movies, as proven by the four that you’ll find inside this Films Of The Year Boxset – The Devil Wears Prada, The Last King Of Scotland, Little Miss Sunshine and The Queen all doing well both at the box office and during the awards season.

Of this little lot, I’d have to pick out Little Miss Sunshine as the real highlight – some genuinely good acting from all involved, together with a decent story, makes for one of the best films of the last few years.

Heroes: Complete Seasons One And Two £17.99

While it’s fair to say that the first year of Heroes was excellent, the second in comparison was very disappointing – instead of the all-out action we instead got a build-up of characters and the discovery of their powers, problems with plot development, and some horrendous romantic nonsense (no to mention the far-too-long "Hiro in Japan" storyline).

The Heroes: Complete Seasons One And Two boxset contains the first 34 episodes of the series, along with hours of bonus material. This includes a 71 minute pilot, multiple audio commentaries, countless featurettes, many deleted scenes, and an interactive game.

The Munsters: The Closed Casket Collection £25.37

The Munsters is a 1960s American television sitcom depicting the home life of a family of monsters, which is a satire of both traditional monster movies and popular family entertainment of the era, such as "Leave It To Beaver". Although it was cancelled in 1966, the series has proved popular enough to still continue in syndication across the U.S. and has also led to a spin-off ("The Munsters Today") and several movies being made.

All 70 episodes ever produced can be found in The Munsters: The Closed Casket Collection boxset. Sadly we don’t get any extra features at all with this, which is a shame as the American release had quite a few.

Elvis: Limited Edition Boxset £24.99

Although Elvis Presley is rightly remembered more for his music, he also had a fairly decent acting career as well. Although it wasn’t that much of stretch for him to star in movies with a musical bent, Elvis managed to perform in the couple of serious roles he had without seeming out of place.

The Elvis: Limited Edition Boxset, of which apparently only 5,000 have been produced, contains some of his best work. These are the "That’s The Way It Is" and "This Is Elvis" double disc documentaries, plus deluxe editions of "Jailhouse Rock" and "Viva Las Vegas" – with "Kissin’ Cousins", "Girl Happy", "Stay Away, Joe", "Live A Little, Love A Little", and "Charro!" rounding out the collection.

The Mist: Special Edition £2.99

After a violent thunderstorm, a small town comes under attack from creatures who prowl in a thick and strange mist. Retreating to a local supermarket, the survivors face off against each other while attempting to take a united stand against an enemy they cannot see.

The Mist: Special Edition DVD has an interesting bonus feature, in that you can choose to watch it in black and white. There’s also an audio commentary with the director, an interview with writer Stephen King, and some deleted scenes – plus the expected collection of featurettes on the making of the movie.

Thundercats: The Complete Collection £29.95

Whilst it’s fair to say that many animated series’ in the 80’s were purely designed to try and shift action figures based on characters featured in them, it doesn’t mean to say that they were bad – quite the opposite in fact, much like in the case of Thundercats.

Inside Thundercats: The Complete Collection you’ll find a whopping 24 discs that contain all 130 episodes of the classic show. Also included are a couple of featurettes on its success, a music video and an interactive game.

Firefly: The Complete Series £9.99

Firefly is an American science fiction series set in the year 2517, after humans have arrived at a new star system, and follows the adventures of the renegade crew of Serenity (the name of both the spaceship and the big-screen sequel to the show).
