The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Collection £4.98

After first appearing in 1974 as The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, the family of cannibals have since gone on to appear in a further five films, several comic books and a rather terrible video game – rumors of edible fingers being planned are as yet unconfirmed.

Inside The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Collection you’ll find the 2003 remake, titled The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (which actually came out in 1990, just to confuse you).

Amazon are selling this for £4.98 – click here for more details.

Homicide: Life On The Street – The Complete First Series £6.97

Running for seven seasons between 1993 and 1999, Homicide: Life On The Street was an excellent American police procedural series that chronicled the work of a fictional Baltimore Police Department homicide unit – close connections with The Wire are evident too, as both are set in the same area and are based on writings by David Simon.

Inside the Homicide: Life On The Street – The Complete First Series boxset you’ll find four discs which contain the first 13 episodes. This is actually the first two seasons, but for some reason Fremantle have decided to number it wrongly!

It Ain’t Half Hot Mum: Complete Series One To Four £16.89

It Ain’t Half Hot Mum was a British sitcom about the adventures of a Royal Artillery Concert Party which was created by the same people behind Dad’s Army and aired on the BBC between 1974 and 1981.

The It Ain’t Half Hot Mum: Complete Series One To Four boxset contains the first 30 episodes of this classic show, although there is no sign of any special features – shame, as it would have been nice to hear from Windsor Davies again.

Sendit.com have this set available for £16.89 – for more information, click here.

Role Models (Blu-Ray) £9.89

Paul Rudd has often been the support in big hits like The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Anchorman, so it was nice to see him get the lead in Role Models – in which he stars alongside Sean William Scott as salesmen who are ordered to perform community service at a program designed to pair kids with adult role models as punishment for various offenses.

This high definition release of the movie looks and sounds fantastic, plus it includes all of the bonus material found on the standard DVD version. A feature-length audio commentary, five featurettes on the making of the film, outtakes and the "Ye Old Crest Maker" interactive mode are all great, but it’s the nearly 50 (!) minutes of deleted scenes which is somewhat surprising.

The David Lean Centenary Collection £16.98

The David Lean Centenary Collection

David Lean was an English director, producer, screenwriter, and editor, best known for big-screen epics such as Lawrence Of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago. Many consider him to be one of the best directors of all time, with people such as Steven Spielberg and Stanley Kubrick praising him over the years.

The David Lean Centenary Collection is a boxset that contains 10 of his best works, but sadly neither of the two films mentioned above. What you do get are copies of In Which We Serve, This Happy Breed, Blithe Spirit, Brief Encounter, Great Expectations, Oliver Twist, The Passionate Friends, Madeleine, The Sound Barrier, and Hobson’s Choice.

If you fancy this, click here to buy it for £16.98 from Amazon.

Futurama: The Complete Seasons One To Four £46.89

Futurama: The Complete Seasons One To Four

Futurama has recently returned (as feature-length straight-to-DVD movies), but if you want to see some of the best animated comedy this side of Family Guy then you need to pick up the Futurama: The Complete Seasons One To Four boxset.

This contains 72 episodes worth of fantastic stuff from the creators of The Simpsons – in fact, some regard this as better than The Simpsons. You’ll also find hours of bonus material, which ranges from audio commentaries to deleted scenes.

Sendit.com are selling this set for £46.89 – click here for more details.

Greatest Ever... Costume Dramas - Volume One Steelbook Boxset contains a few cheap DVDs    Greatest Ever... Fantasy Films Steelbook Boxset    Greatest Ever... Gangsters Steelbook Boxset

When buying DVDs it’s always nice to get a boxset that contains more than one decent film in it – sadly, what quite often happens is that you’ll get lumped with one or two classics, plus at least a couple of stinkers. Thankfully the Greatest Ever… steelbook boxsets don’t fall into this trap.

Each set contains five movies from a particular genre, all of which are found inside a fake metal tin. There are no extra features on any of the films, but this won’t matter too much when you see the prices!

To get the Greatest Ever… Costume Dramas – Volume One steelbook boxset for £7.93 from The Hut, click here. The Greatest Ever… Fantasy Films steelbook boxset (click here) and Greatest Ever… Gangsters steelbook boxset (click here) are the same price from the same retailer too.

Deadwood: The Ultimate Collection £26.95

Deadwood: The Ultimate Collection

I’ll give you an advance warning that Deadwood has an extreme amount of swearing, but it actually works quite well in the context of the show. The growth from camp to town before and after the area’s annexation by the Dakota Territory is charted throughout the entire three years, with many historical characters making appearances.

Deadwood: The Ultimate Collection contains all 36 episodes ever made, although there is a very slim chance that it could return in the form of TV movies at some point in the future.
