Cracker: The Complete Collection

Robbie Coltrane, to many people, is now seen as Hagrid from the Harry Potter world. Before that though, he actually did some serious acting - some may remember his appearance in a couple of James Bond films, but most will remember him as Eddie "Fitz" Fitzgerald in the crime series Cracker.

The criminal psychologist (or "cracker") helps solve often complex cases by getting inside the mind of the criminal, whilst being seemingly unable to sort his own life out.

If you fancy Cracker: The Complete Collection, click here to get it for £28.75 from Blah DVD. Snap this up while you can, as a more expensive set is on the way (which looks exactly the same as this one!).

The Devil’s Backbone £3.99

The Devil's Backbone

Guillermo del Toro is perhaps better known for directing the two Hellboy films that have been made so far, but he’s also done a couple of other interesting movies in the shape of The Devil’s Backbone and its spiritual sequel Pan’s Labyrinth.

This gothic horror is set in the year of 1939 in Spain during the Spanish Civil War and tells the tale of a remote orphanage whose young inhabitants are terrorised by a decomposing spirit who stalks the dark hallways. As the film continues, the children learn the true story of Santi’s death and vow vengeance on his vicious murderer…

Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace: The Complete Series £3.73

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace: The Complete Series

Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace is a Channel 4 comedy show that revolves around fictional horror author Garth Marenghi and his publisher Dean Learner. It’s interesting the way in which this is presented - as a 1980s series that hasn’t been shown until now.

Numerous aspects of 80s low-budget television are lampooned (including the fashion, music, and special effects) to great success. Even though the viewing figures where quite poor, this has since gone on to become something of a cult hit with rumors that a film could be in the works.

If you fancy Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace: The Complete Series, click here to get it for only £3.73 from Asda.

Blade: The Complete Series £7.99

Blade: The Complete Series

The Blade films have all been pretty good, even if Blade: Trinity was a bit dodgy in places (Triple H as an actor! Ryan Reynolds!). Blade: The Series continues the story of the character who started life in a Marvel Comics book called Tomb Of Dracula in 1973.

Wesley Snipes doesn’t reprise his role from the movies, so Kirk Jones (who is a rapper apparently) steps into his shoes as the only man who can save the human race from hordes of evil bloodsucking vampires.

Click here to buy Blade: The Complete Series for £7.99 from Zavvi. This is also part of the 5 for £30 offer currently running at Zavvi (click here for the full list), so you could end up getting it for just £6.

Hard Boiled: Collector’s Edition £3

Hard Boiled: Collector's Edition

John Woo did many films before becoming more well-known for other works like Broken Arrow and Face/Off, with Hard Boiled being one of them. It was actually the last movie he did in Hong Kong before moving to Hollywood.

An apparently straightforward film about the bond between a detective and an undercover cop as they fight a triad gang soon develops into an action extravaganza with a whopping body count (307!). A sequel in the form of video game Stranglehold was released in 2007.

Instore at Blockbusters you can get the Hard Boiled: Collector’s Edition DVD for just £3.
