House Of Flying Daggers £2.99

Not only does House Of Flying Daggers look stunning, it looks so good that, as with some operas, the story almost becomes beside the point – serving primarily to get from one spectacular scene to another. That’s not to say that the plot of this film is poor either, because it’s perhaps more gripping and exciting than many Western movies you’ll ever see.

This single disc release only comes with a feature-length audio commentary by director Zhang Yimou, but this matters little when you’re dealing with a film that is as watchable as this is.

CD-WOW are selling this for £2.99 – click here for more details.

Samsung BD-P1500/XEU Blu-Ray Player £99.99

Samsung BD-P1500/XEU Blu-Ray Player

Although there’s still a bit of debate about whether or not people have been taking up high definition as readily as the change from VHS to DVD, but I can assure you that it’s most definitely worth doing.

The Samsung BD-P1500/XEU Blu-Ray player not only plays Blu-Rays, but it will also upscale your standard DVDs as well. This means that your current collection will have an improved picture – think of it as a missing step between normal and HD quality.

Fantastic Four (1994): Complete Season One £3.66

Since debuting in 1961, the fictional superhero group known as the Fantastic Four have managed to cross over from the world of comics to the animated screen on no less than four occasions – which either means each attempt has been slightly better than the one before, or that they simply aren’t popular!

The Fantastic Four (1994): Complete Season One set contains the first 13 episodes from the third incarnation of the team. Sadly there’s pretty much nothing in the way of bonus material, save for a short feature on the restoration process (which is as exciting as it sounds).

If you fancy this, click here to buy it for £3.66 from Select Cheaper.

Skins: Complete First Series £4.95

Although some have said that Skins depicts teenagers unrealistically and stereotypically, there’s no denying it’s very entertaining in a "guilty pleasure" kind of way. Storylines in most shows aren’t that believable, so why this one in particular has come in for criticism I’ll never know.

Anyway, the Skins: Complete First Series boxset contains the initial nine episodes of the Channel 4 teen drama – although I should point out that much of the original music has been replaced for copyright reasons. You’ll also find nine "Skins Unseen" webisodes, 11 video diaries and a music video.

That Mitchell And Webb Look: Series Two £7.99

While David Mitchell and Robert Webb are both excellent in the Channel 4 series Peep Show, their BBC sketch show That Mitchell And Webb Look has its moments as well – some miss the mark, but stuff like Numberwang and The Surprising Adventures Of Sir Digby Chicken Caesar are hilarious.

On the That Mitchell And Webb Look: Series Two DVD you’ll find all six episodes from the second year, along with some bonus material. This includes some short featurettes on the making of some of the sketches and a few deleted scenes.

Transformers: The Movie (1986) (Blu-Ray) £5.93

Transformers: The Movie (1986) is a feature-length animated film based on the television series of the same name. Taking place some 20 years after the end of the second season, this has a much darker tone which sees a handful of major characters meet their demise.

This high definition release looks and sounds as good as it ever has, although it’s certainly not the best Blu-Ray around. You won’t find any bonus material either, which seems like a bit of a missed opportunity.

Click here to buy Transformers: The Movie (1986), on Blu-Ray, for £5.93 from The Hut.
