2 Point 4 Children: Series One To Three £9.99

Although it was never a British institution like Morecambe And Wise or Monty Python, 2 Point 4 Children was nevertheless an often hilarious look at a normal family faced with abnormal situations – it also ran for eight years, which goes to show how popular it was.

The 2 Point 4 Children: Series One To Three boxset contains the first 20 episodes of the comedy programme (including the 1992 Christmas special), along with a photo gallery and tribute to actor Gary Olsen, who sadly died in 2000 at the age of 42.

The Robert Altman Collection £8.95

The Robert Altman Collection

Robert Altman was a director known for making films that looked very natural, but with a stylised perspective. He’s also lucky to have been at the helm for two movies which have been selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry, with M*A*S*H and Nashville.

The Robert Altman Collection contains five of his best works, but there’s sadly no sign of Nashville. M*A*S*H is included though, along with Fool For Love, The Long Goodbye, O.C. And Stiggs, and Thieves Like Us.

101 Dalmatians (1996) £3.99

101 Dalmatians (1996) is a live-action remake of the classic 1961 animated film of the same name, which was based on the Dodie Smith novel The Hundred And One Dalmatians. Glenn Close puts in an excellent performance as the villainous Cruella de Vil, and Jeff Daniels stars as the owner of the dogs.

Extras-wise this DVD is incredibly disappointing, with absolutely nothing included at all. For something this popular (a sequel was even made), you’d expect to see at least a "making of" featurette…

Anyway, HMV have this available for £3.99 – for more information, click here.

80’s Triple Pack £3.73

80's Triple Pack

The 1980’s must have been a great decade to be alive, as the music and movies are a heck of a lot better than what we get now. Then again, I could be a bit biased – I was born in ‘83, and most of my favourite stuff comes from the same time period (Ghostbusters, Back To The Future, etc).

This 80’s Triple Pack contains three of the best chick flicks from that era. Flashdance, Footloose, and Pretty In Pink are all rather good in their own way, although Flashdance is perhaps the best of the bunch.

Top Gun, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, And Beverly Hills Cop Triple Pack £3.73

Top Gun, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, And Beverly Hills Cop Triple Pack

The only thing that really connects the three films in the Top Gun, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Beverly Hills Cop triple pack is the fact that they’re all distributed by Paramount Pictures. I suppose it’s a better reason than many others, but it’s still a bit weak…

Anyway, all of them are excellent in their own right. Top Gun is a quintessential 80s action movie, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is a decent comedy, and Beverly Hills Cop is very probably Eddie Murphy’s best role.

The Bruce Campbell Collection £6.93

The Bruce Campbell Collection contains a total of four cheap DVDs

Whilst his work may be unfamiliar to some, it’s fair to say that Bruce Campbell is the kind of actor that Hollywood sorely needs today. With charisma by the bucketload and the kind of voice that makes him stand out from many others, he is the man that everyone wants to be like – George Clooney, Brad Pitt, etc. don’t come anywhere close to matching the kind of talent he has.

The Bruce Campbell Collection contains four of his best films, although there’s sadly no sign of the Evil Dead movies. What you will find are copies of Alien Apocalypse, Bubba Ho-Tep, The Man With The Screaming Brain and My Name Is Bruce.
