House: The Complete Seasons One To Three Boxset

I have to admit it was a little bit odd seeing Hugh Laurie in House, as he’s more known (or at least was) for his comedy roles in shows such as Blackadder and Jeeves & Wooster.

Dr Gregory House is a doctor witch absolutely no bedside manner. Even though he doesn’t appear to much of a people person, he thrives on the challenge of solving seemingly impossible cases.

The Complete Murder In Mind £27.99

The Complete Murder In Mind

Muder In Mind was a BBC drama show that examined what it’s like to kill, and why people do it in the first place. The subject matters addressed are quite deep and include euthanasia, accidental murder, contract killing, revenge and a sleepwalker who knows that she’s done something but not what or to whom.

The Complete Murder In Mind boxset contains all 23 episodes ever made. You also get the unaired pilot included as a bonus feature.

Starship Troopers Trilogy (Blu-Ray) £17.89

Starship Troopers Trilogy (Blu-Ray)

The very first Starship Troopers film is a very good action/science fiction film that has its tongue very firmly planed in its cheek, i.e. it doesn’t take itself too seriously.

The second and third films are sadly very average, although the third one does at least bring back some of the characters from the first movie. Who can resist Casper Van Dien?!?

Sendit.com are selling this collection of cheap DVDs for £17.89 - for more information, click here.

I should also point out that this is a Blu-Ray release, so please make sure that you can play these discs before buying.

The Unit: Seasons One And Two £10.99 Each

The Unit: Season One

The Unit focuses on a top-secret military outfit, which has been based on the real-life Delta Force. Interesting fact for you - this show is made by David Mamet, the guy who wrote the play Glengarry Glen Ross (which was turned into an excellent film that I insist you watch at some point).

The Unit: Season One features the full 13 episodes, plus a short featurette on the real-life inspiration for the series.

Click here to bag this set for £10.99 from HMV.

The Unit: Season Two

The number of episodes for The Unit: Season Two was boosted to 23, with a whole host of new characters added to freshen it up a little bit.

This year sees our heroes being investigated by the CIA over infractions, which could lead to jail terms for the members of the elite squad. Sad times.

If you fancy this set, click here to get it for the same price (£10.99) from the same retailer (HMV) as the first season.

Roswell From £9.99

Roswell: The Complete First Season - Special Edition

Roswell was a US science fiction with a bit of oddness behind it - the teenagers in it are actually aliens hiding in plain sight after surviving the 1947 UFO incident in the area.

The Roswell: The Complete First Season - Special Edition boxset contains all 22 episodes from the first year and the usual behind-the-scenes bonus material quite often found on DVDs.

To get this collection for £9.99 from HMV, click here.

Roswell: The Complete Second Season

While the first season introduced us to the characters in the show, the second year sees them facing a threat from an enemy race known as Skins. They’ve been searching for the alien hybrids since they hatched, and will stop at nothing to bring them home.

Roswell: The Complete Second Season is slightly shorter with 21 episodes in total. This is much the same as the first season in terms of bonus material, with features on the making of the programme.

Click here to get this for £12.99 from the same retailer, HMV.

Roswell: The Complete Third Season

Roswell: The Complete Third Season is actually the last one as well. With 18 episodes remaining, the major storylines are all rounded off rather well. Which is nice.

The five discs have all the episodes (as you’d expect), as well as yet more somewhat interesting stuff on how the show is made.

HMV also have this season for £12.99 - click here for more details.

Roswell: The Complete Collection

If you’d rather have one big boxset with all of the above releases in it, then the Roswell: The Complete Collection set would be your best bet.

17 discs contain exactly the same episodes and extras as the individual versions - you do get a lovely box to keep them in though.

Click here to buy this for £37.99 from - you’ve guessed it - HMV.

55 Degrees North: Complete Series One And Two £9.99

55 Degrees North: Complete Series One And Two

55 Degrees North is known as The Night Detective in the U.S. - I have no idea who though this was a good name, but I do know that they deserve to be locked in a room without windows.

It’s a police drama from the BBC about a Detective Sergeant who blows the whistle on corruption in the London force. He’s moved up North (to Newcastle, more specifically) where we see how he deals with love and relationships, as well as the importance of family.

Click here to get the 55 Degrees North: Complete Series One And Two boxset for £9.99 from Play.com.

Casino: Special Edition £4.64

Casino: Special Edition

Casino is a great film starring Robert De Niro as Sam "Ace" Rothstein, a front man for the Mob’s multi-billion dollar Las Vegas operation. The bosses send in one of his old friends (Nicky Santaro, played by Joe Pesci) to protect their "investment"…and then things start going downhill.

The Casino: Special Edition DVD has an extensive audio commentary with most of the cast and crew, deleted scenes and featurettes on the making of the movie. There’s some good stuff here.

Tesco have this available for £4.64 delivered - click here for more details.

The Tick: The Complete Collection £15.98

The Tick: The Complete Collection

Many people probably haven’t ever heard of The Tick, but if you have then you know how good it actually was. Running for three seasons, this animated show is a parody on almost ever superhero cliché you could ever think of.

The Tick: The Complete Collection is a six disc set that contains all 36 episodes ever made. The US releases were missing a couple of installments, but we get all of them. Yay us!

If you fancy this set, click here to get it for the reduced price of £15.98 from Amazon.
