Twin Peaks: Definitive Gold Box Edition

One of the weirdest programmes ever made has to be Twin Peaks. Considering that it was created by David Lynch this should come as no surprise, but dwarves talking backwards and a Log Lady are strange, even by his standards!

The Twin Peaks: Definitive Gold Box Edition is a special ten disc set that contains all 30 episodes of the cult TV classic. As well as a whole host of interesting extra features, this is the very first time you can watch either the original or European version of the pilot episode.

Star Trek: Enterprise - Seasons 1-4 From £16.97

Star Trek: Enterprise - Season One

Star Trek: Enterprise was the last series to grace our TV screens that was set in the Star Trek universe. Will there be any more? I guess that the success of the next big-screen film will determine the answer to that question.

Star Trek: Enterprise - Season One is a six disc set that contains all 26 episodes from the first year. Also included are a bunch of decent extra features, including an audio commentary and deleted scenes.

If you fancy this set, click here to buy it for £16.97 from Amazon.

Star Trek: Enterprise - Season Two

After the Star Trek fans turned in in their millions for the first season, a second was inevitable. The continuing adventures of Captain Jonathan Archer and crew are well worth watching, even if you’ve seen them before.

Star Trek: Enterprise - Season Two is a collection of another 26 installments, with some more decent bonus material. How lovely.

Click here to bag this set for the slightly higher price of £18.97 from the chaps at Amazon.

Star Trek: Enterprise - Season Three

Star Trek: Enterprise - Season Three is actually considered by many as the best of the show’s four season run. Even lower viewer ratings and budget cutbacks couldn’t stop this from being a great year.

Series creator Brannon Braga has actually described this season as a "single episode that lasts 24 hours", probably because the story-arc really does take in every episode.

To get this set for the bizarre price of £20.97 (bizarre in that season four is cheaper for some reason) from Amazon, click here.

Star Trek: Enterprise - Season Four

With barely anyone left watching, the final season of Star Trek: Enterprise really had nothing to lose. Because of this fact, some of the best stuff of any season is featured.

A three episode arc which shows how Next Generation character Data was formed, and many other highlights left fans satisfied with how the show ended its run.

Click here to get this collection for £18.97 - you won’t be surprised to hear this is also from Amazon.

Empire Of The Sun: Special Edition £3

Empire Of The Sun: Special Edition

Whilst many of us are ore familiar with Christian Bale playing either Patrick Bateman in American Psycho or Batman (The Dark Knight is excellent, by the way - go and see it now!), he actually started his career at a very early age with an appearance in Empire Of The Sun.

Bale stars as Jim Graham, a young boy who is being held in a Japanese camp during World War II. Through his eyes we see the fascination and horror of war as the struggle to survive grows fiercer.

Instore at Zavvi you can get the Empire Of The Sun: Special Edition DVD for just £3. One of those cheap DVDs that’s easy to recommend, based solely on Christian Bale’s brilliant performance.

Friends: The Complete Ninth Series £7.69

Friends: The Complete Ninth Series

For some reason I’m always late in getting round to watching shows that turn out to be much better than I ever thought they would be - case in point, Friends. The very notion of a bunch of far too good-looking people being funny seemed a tad ridiculous, but actually works very well.

Friends: The Complete Ninth Series contains all 24 episodes from the ninth year. The good thing about this comedy series is that you don’t really need to have seen any previous series’ to get what the show’s about.

Forget The Rest have this set available for £7.69 - click here for more details.

Rising Damp: The Complete Collection £12.99

Rising Damp: The Complete Collection

Classic comedy is often much funnier than stuff we get now (shows such as Extras being the exception) and Rising Damp is no different. There is some raciscm, although in the context of the show it works - and it’s nothing too offensive anyway.

Rising Damp: The Complete Collection contains not only the four TV series’ but the feature-length film as well. That’s a total of nearly 13 hours of comedy!

The Matrix: Collector’s Edition £2

The Matrix: Collector's Edition

One of the best science fiction films of all-time has to be The Matrix. Some may disagree with this, but I’m sure that in the future we’ll look back and realise how good it actually is.

The Matrix: Collector’s Edition contains the brilliant film on the first disc, and the second has a feature-length documentary on the making of it titled "The Matrix Revisited".

Pop in to your local HMV and pick this up for only £2.

Sharpe: The Collector’s Edition £17.99

Sharpe: The Collector's Edition is a boxset of decent cheap DVDs

Younger people may associate Sean Bean with The Lord Of The Rings films, but I’m sure that the older viewers will remember him more for his portrayal of Richard Sharpe.

The Sharpe: The Collector’s Edition boxset contains the first 14 episodes, as well as two special installments titled "Sharpe The Legend" and "Sharpe’s Shooting". It sadly doesn’t include the 2006 Sharpe’s Challenge or 2008 Sharpe’s Peril episodes.

One Tree Hill: The Complete First Season £12

One Tree Hill: The Complete First Season

One Tree Hill is very underrated, in my opinion at least. When it originally aired many compared it to The O.C. - funny that the latter show fell away completely towards the end, whereas One Tree Hill is still going strong.

If you’ve never seen the programme before, One Tree Hill: The Complete First Season is probably a good place to start (unsurprisingly). It’s a six disc set which contains all 22 episodes, as well as some decent extra features.

Instore at Asda you can pick up this set for £12.
