The Ultimate Alien And Predator Collection £9.99

The Ultimate Alien And Predator Collection

The difference between The Ultimate Alien And Predator Collection and the Alien And Predator: Total Destruction Collection is that this one doesn’t contain the downright awful Alien Vs Predator: Requiem. It does, however, include the equally horrendous Alien Vs Predator.

Alien, Aliens and Predator are the true highlights of this set, but I’m probably in the minority when I say that Predator 2 has its moments. Danny Glover is no Arnie, yet this doesn’t really matter all that much – the Predator itself is the star, if we’re being honest.

Trigger Happy TV: Best Of Series One £2.99

While it’s fair to say that the concept behind Trigger Happy TV isn’t original (it uses the tried and trusted method of hiding cameras), the humour is – instead of pranking or stitching-up members of the public, it’s their reactions to star Dom Joly’s ludicrous shenanigans that make the show what it is.

The Trigger Happy TV: Best Of Series One DVD contains all the funniest bits from the first year of the programme, along with some unseen footage and an audio commentary that is almost as hilarious as the standard audio!

The Fly (1986): Cinema Reserve £3.99

Whilst it’s true to say that many remakes are not even worth the film they are printed on, there’s always one or two that come along and turn out to be rather good – The Fly is one example. The plot is substantially different from that of the 1958 version, but what you’ll really notice are the special effects (Jeff Goldblum looks almost unrecognisable as times).

The Fly (1986): Cinema Reserve release is a double disc set that is packed with bonus material. The first disc contains a feature-length audio commentary with director David Cronenberg, and the second holds a documentary that runs for over two and a half hours and some deleted scenes – amongst other short bits and bobs.

The Fugitive: The Chase Continues £1.99

The Fugitive started off life as a television series in 1963, before eventually becoming a big-screen film in 1993. The story has always stayed the same though, with Dr Richard Kimble on the run after being falsely convicted of murdering his wife – the authorities are never far behind though, especially Stafford Police Lieutenant Philip Gerard.

The Fugitive: The Chase Continues contains the pilot episode from the short-lived 2000 remake of the show. Whilst nowhere near as good as the original, this is still an entertaining and exciting way to spend your time – it’s also made by the same producers behind the Harrison Ford-starring 1993 movie version.

Skellig £6.97

Skellig

Skellig is a Sky1 adaptation of the 1998 novel of the same name by David Almond, which has at least one big-name actor starring in the form of Tim Roth. This has been repeated quite regularly since first airing, but those who don’t have satellite TV will perhaps be interested to see how closely this follows the book.

As this is mainly aimed at children, the bonus material doesn’t really amount to much – all you’ll find are some short interviews with the cast and crew, and two featurettes on how the film was made.

Queen: Rock Montreal & Live Aid

It’s interesting to note that the Queen: Rock Montreal album was recorded on the 24th and 25th of November 1981, which is ten years to the date before lead singer Freddie Mercury died of complications related to AIDS.

The Queen: Rock Montreal & Live Aid DVD contains the aforementioned concert in Canada, plus all seven songs from the band’s performance at Live Aid. You’ll also find an audio commentary with Brain May and Roger Taylor, some Live Aid rehearsal footage, and a 1982 interview from U.S. television.

Butterfly On A Wheel £1.93

Butterfly On A Wheel

Alexander Pope’s poem "Epistle To Dr Arbuthnot" contains the line "Who breaks a butterfly upon a wheel?", which is usually interpreted as questioning why someone would put massive effort into achieving something minor or unimportant – all this links to American thriller Butterfly On A Wheel where a kidnapper forces a couple to kill an innocent man in order to save their daughter’s life…

This excellent underrated movie comes with quite a few extras for something that is relatively unknown. On the disc you’ll find a feature-length audio commentary with director Mike Barker, two featurettes on the making of the film, two deleted scenes and three alternative scenes.

The Hut have this available for just £1.93 – for more information, click here.
