Bones: Seasons One To Three £17.99 Each

Bones: Season One    Bones: Season Two    Bones: Season Three

It might seem like every second show is a police drama nowadays, but Bones is actually one of the many airing that is worth taking a look at. Each episode focuses on an FBI case file concerning the mystery behind human remains brought to the anthropology team of Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan (nothing groundbreaking, but certainly an entertaining way to spend an hour).

Each boxset of the series comes with a varying number of installments – season one has 22 episodes, season two has 21 and season three amounts to just 15 because of the writer’s strike. All three sets also come packed with bonus material, including four bonus episodes from the fourth year in the third season collection.

Click here to get Bones: Season One for £17.99 from HMV. The same retailer also has Bones: Season Two (click here) and Bones: Season Three (click here) at the same price.

Battlestar Galactica: Seasons One To Four £27.98

The Battlestar Galactica: Seasons One To Four boxset contains a total of 20 cheap DVDs

If you’re a little confused about what’s inside the Battlestar Galactica: Seasons One To Four boxset, let me help you. The first three seasons are fine and obvious – it’s just the fourth that is a bit on the tricky side to explain.

Due to the writer’s strike at the end of 2007, the fourth year was split in two. Thus, the seasons labelled four in this set is perhaps better being called 4.1 (the other half is due fore release at some point soon).

Disney Pixar Complete Collection £34.98

Disney Pixar Complete Collection

It’s probably worth pointing out at this point that the Disney Pixar Complete Collection isn’t as complete as the publishers would have you believe – it doesn’t contain Ratatouille, Wall-E, or the Pixar Shorts disc. What you do get is seven quality animated movies which will delight children (and adults) of any age.

Not only is there Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles and Cars, but also hours of bonus material. This ranges from multiple audio commentaries to documentaries and deleted scenes.

Spaced From £2.99

Spaced: The Complete First Series    Spaced: The Complete Second Series

Spaced is a British situation comedy that only lasted two years on Channel 4, although rumors abound that a third series may happen at some point in the future. Simon Pegg has become a massive hit now though, so we might have to wait a lot longer than originally planned.

For cheap DVDs that have now been out for some time, they are fairly well packed with bonus material. Each have audio commentaries on individual episodes, deleted scenes, outtakes, raw footage and other short bits and pieces.

HMV have Spaced: The Complete Second Series available for £2.99 – for more information, click here. If you’re after Spaced: The Complete First Series, click here to get it for £5.89 from Sendit.com.

Batman Begins And Batman: Gotham Knight Limited Edition Double Pack £4.99

Batman Begins And Batman: Gotham Knight Limited Edition Double Pack

After the shambles of a mess that was Batman & Robin, it looked like we would have to wait quite some time to see The Dark Knight back on the big-screen again. 2005 marked Bruce Wayne’s return in Batman Begins, with quite possibly the best superhero movie ever made (up until the release of its sequel, The Dark Knight, in 2008).

The Batman Begins and Batman: Gotham Knight limited edition double pack contains the special edition of the aforementioned film, which is packed with extra features. Batman: Gotham Knight, meanwhile, is a set of six animated shorts that bridge the gap between the Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

If you fancy this, click here to buy it for £4.99 from HMV.

Iron Man: Ultimate Edition £6.98

Iron Man: Ultimate Edition

Iron Man is the big-screen movie based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Robert Downey Jr. stars as Tony Stark, a billionaire industrialist and master engineer who builds a powered exoskeleton and becomes the technologically advanced superhero.

The Iron Man: Ultimate Edition set comes with two discs that are packed with bonus material. On the first you’ll find 11 deleted and extended scenes, whilst the second contains a seven-part documentary, eight featurettes, Robert Downey Jr.’s screen test, and some photo galleries.

Collateral £2.99

Cheap DVDs like Collateral are well worth adding to your collection

Cab driver Max (Jamie Foxx) dreams of having his own business, but one terrifying night he realises that the passenger he’s been driving around all night (Tom Cruise, in a rare villainous role) is a contract killer committing a series of hits – now he must somehow stop the killer from executing the last witness on his list, and to stay alive himself…

This single disc release of Collateral only comes with an audio commentary by director Michael Mann, but the film itself is so good that this doesn’t really matter all that much.

The Mighty Boosh: Series Three £4.95

The Mighty Boosh: Series Three

Whereas the second series of The Mighty Boosh was mainly set in a flat in Dalston, the third was set in a second hand shop below the flat called the Nabootique. I can only assume that a smaller budget meant that certain costs had to be cut – which is probably why this is considered the worst year yet.

The Mighty Boosh: Series Three contains all six episodes along with audio commentaries, a "making of" featurette, deleted scenes, outtakes and bits of music from the show.

Beethoven, Beethoven’s 2nd And Beethoven’s 3rd Triple Pack £3.93

Beethoven, Beethoven's 2nd And Beethoven's 3rd Triple Pack

While Eddie Murphy has gone on to do even bigger and better things after Beverly Hills Cop, spare a thought for one of the stars of that film, Judge Reinhold. He’s obviously upset someone somewhere because the only work he can get is in straight-to-DVD rubbish like Beethoven’s 3rd – shame, as appearances in Arrested Development have shown he’s still at least a little funny.

The Beethoven, Beethoven’s 2nd and Beethoven’s 3rd triple pack contains the first three films in the franchise about a St. Bernard dog. As you’d expect, the original is good whilst the two sequels are average at best.

Asda have this available for £3.93 – for more information, click here.
