Resident Evil Trilogy £7.45

Resident Evil Trilogy

Although the first Resident Evil film received some fairly negative reviews, financially it proved successful enough to have two sequels made (Resident Evil: Apocalypse and Resident Evil: Extinction) – a script for a fourth movie is in the process of being completed, which will likely mean there will be another outing for Alice at some point in the future.

The Resident Evil Trilogy boxset contains all three films that have been produced thus far, and each comes with hours of bonus material. This includes audio commentaries, deleted scenes, and many featurettes looking at the making of the movies.

Drop The Dead Donkey: The Complete Fourth Series £4.89

Drop The Dead Donkey: The Complete Fourth Series

To make sure that each episode was as topically relevant as possible, the team behind Drop The Dead Donkey were able to make script changes up to the last minute as each installment was filmed very close to transmission – something that would never happen with a situation comedy today.

Drop The Dead Donkey: The Complete Fourth Series contains 12 episodes of the Channel 4 comedy. Sadly there are no extra features, which feels like a missed opportunity (commentaries on selected installments would have been nice).

Casino Royale: Collector’s Edition £3.99

Casino Royale: Collector's Edition

Daniel Craig’s latest outing as James Bond, Quantum Of Solace, is nowhere near as good as Casino Royale is. That’s a pity, as hopes were high that Craig would be a bankable Bond in the foreseeable future – obviously not. I’m sure he’ll stick around in the role for a while longer though.

The Casino Royale: Collector’s Edition DVD is a double disc set that comes with a music video and three featurettes on the making of the film. Also included is the "Bond Girls Are Forever" documentary that was shown on ITV a while back.

Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines - Special Edition

Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines is the sequel to The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. After the failure of Skynet to kill Sarah Connor before her son is born and to kill John himself as a child, it sends back another Terminator, the T-X, in a last attempt to wipe out as many Tech-Com resistance officers as possible (including John’s future wife), but not John himself as his whereabouts are unknown – that is until the T-X finds a trace of the resistance leader-to-be.

The Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines – Special Edition DVD comes with a couple of audio commentaries and a whole host of featurettes looking at the making of the movie. Also, check out the deleted scene on the second disc for an interesting look at why Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator looks the way he does.

Tenacious D: The Complete Masterworks 2 £4.99

Tenacious D: The Complete Masterworks 2

Many know Jack Black as the star of such films as School Of Rock and Tropic Thunder, but he’s also in a rock band called Tenacious D with fellow comedian Kyle Gass. Although they’re not exactly of a Metallica or AC/DC standard, it’s fair to say that some of their work has actually been quite good (miles better than any X Factor or Pop Idol guff!).

Tenacious D: The Complete Masterworks 2 contains footage from their performances in Seattle, Washington on February 16 and 17 in 2007. You’ll also find the feature-length "D Tour: A Tenacious Documentary" documentary and some short bits and pieces the two have done on American TV.

The Best Of Ealing Studios Collection

In the post-war period after the end of World War II, Ealing Studios embarked on a series of celebrated comedies which quickly became the company’s hallmark – which in turn led to them being bought out by the BBC, who used the facilities for such classic shows as The Singing Detective and Porridge.

The Best Of Ealing Studios Collection boxset contains five of the greatest films made during their golden era. Doctor Who: New Beginnings £4.93

You'll find three cheap DVDs inside the Doctor Who: New Beginnings boxset

It’s all well and good seeing the newer versions of Doctor Who, but it’s also nice to look back at some of the earlier incarnations of the Doctor.
