Kurt Cobain: All Apologies £2.49

Kurt Cobain was an American musician who served as lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter for the grunge band Nirvana. After struggling with drug addiction and the media pressures surrounding him and his wife Courtney Love, Cobain ended his own life with a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head on April the 8th 1994 – although some have come to question whether this is true or not in the years following the tragedy.

Kurt Cobain: All Apologies is a tribute to the man and his music from those that he inspired. It also attempts to understand why he continues to be a role model for disaffected youth, via interviews with members of Nirvana, Cobain’s family, and media pundits.

If you’ve always wondered what goes on behind-the-scenes at the Security Service (otherwise known as MI5), then BBC drama series Spooks attempts to show you. Most of the events that happen on a regular day during this show probably don’t occur quite so often in real life – but who would want to watch a programme about paperwork?!?

Every DVD release comes loaded with special features, ranging from multiple audio commentaries to documentaries and deleted scenes. Basically, everything you need to know about pretty much the only show that’s been made in this country which comes close to matching American quality.

Secretary £3.29

Secretary is a sadomasochism-themed romantic comedy-drama film which stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader, and is based on a short story from the novel "Bad Behavior" by Mary Gaitskill.

Sadly this is the version that comes without any special features. However, it’s also currently the only way to get the movie on DVD (the Special Edition has been deleted).

Tom Hanks Collection £7.43

With such a decent amount of quality films to choose from his career, those that are included in the Tom Hanks Collection boxset may seem a little on the disappointing side – The Man With One Red Show in particular definitely isn’t a highlight of his work.

Alongside it are Bachelor Party, Big, That Thing You Do! and Road To Perdition. Extras wise, Bachelor Party is the only one to include anything in the form of deleted scenes, a featurette on the making of the movie, and an interview with the great man himself.

Hot Fuzz And Shaun Of The Dead Double Pack £6.73

After the success of Channel 4 comedy series Spaced, the team behind the show decided to venture out into the murky world of cinema. The results thus far have been nothing short of fantastic – turning Simon Pegg into an unlikely global superstar in the process.

This Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead double pack contains the two movies they’ve collectively made so far. The latter is a zombie romantic comedy, whilst the former is a police comedy – both are great examples of classic British humour.

Doom And Serenity Double Pack £4.99

The interesting thing about this Doom and Serenity double pack is that one is a very average science fiction horror film, whilst the other is an excellent space western – but which is which (I’ll give you a clue – the good movie ain’t Doom!)?

There are tons of special features with both films as well. Doom has six featurettes on the making of the movie, and Serenity includes an audio commentary, deleted scenes, outtakes and four featurettes.

American History X (Blu-Ray) £9.93

American History X is an Academy Award-nominated film that deals with racism. Although it didn’t perform all that well at the box office, it’s hard-hitting message, and quite graphics depictions of violence, have led to it gaining a bigger audience since its release on home video.

The high definition release of the movie isn’t due out until the 13th of April, but you can certainly guarantee that it will have picture and sound quality unmatched by any other version.
