The Rock: Collector's Edition

There was a time when Nicolas Cage was really on fire (not literally, of course) which is quite hard to believe when you see the kind of crap he does now. Face Off and Con Air were both excellent, but for me The Rock was the best of the bunch.

Millions of lives are at risk when a military madman takes control of the prison island Alcatraz, threatening to launch deadly poison gas missiles at San Francisco. It’s up to a chemical weapons expert and a cunning federal prisoner, who was the only man to ever escape the prison, to break in and disable the missiles.

Instore at Asda you can pick up The Rock: Collector’s Edition two disc DVD for only £3.

Prison Break: Season Two £19.98

Prison Break: Season Two

As with Prison Break: The Complete First Season this isn’t actually the full season release, but two individual parts (which are £9.99 each) - the combined price is much lower than the full set though, and you don’t lose anything in terms of extra features.

This season sees the guys on the run after escaping from Fox River State Penitentiary. We see how they struggle both to stay one step ahead of the police, and one step ahead of the group who framed Lincoln Burrows in the first place.

Click here to get the first part of season two for £9.99 and click here to get the second part for the same price - which when both combined come out at £19.98 altogether (almost £10 cheaper than buying the full set).

3:10 To Yuma (Blu-Ray) £9.99

3:10 To Yuma (Blu-Ray)

Remakes are quite often terrible (see Planet Of The Apes or The Omen for evidence) but sometimes they’re as good as the original - as is the case with 3:10 To Yuma.

Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) is an outlaw who, along with his vicious gang of theives and murderers, plagued the Southern Railroad in Arizona in the late 1800’s. When he’s captured, Civil War veteran Dan Evans (Christian Bale) volunteers to deliver him to the 3:10 to Yuma - a train that will take the killer to trial.

On the trail the two very different men begin to earn each other’s respect, but with Wade’s gang on their tails the mission becomes a violent journey towards each man’s destiny.

To get the Blu-Ray release of this film for £9.99 from Movietyme, simply click here - this is a US release, but will work perfectly on your PAL machine.

3rd Rock From The Sun: The Complete Series £37.97

3rd Rock From The Sun: The Complete Series

It’s a sad fact that many comedy shows only last a couple of seasons before getting axed, but 3rd Rock From The Sun was one of the lucky ones that lasted for quite some time - six seasons, to be exact.

The 3rd Rock From The Sun: The Complete Series boxset contains all 139 episodes of the US comedy show about human existence as seen through the eyes of four aliens visiting Earth, whose mission it is to sample life on our planet.

Amazon have this set of relatively cheap DVDs available for £37.97 - for more information, click here.

Evan Almighty £3

Evan Almighty

If you saw Bruce Almighty, you should already know who Evan Baxter is - he’s the polished, preening newscaster played by Steve Carrell. Carrell reprises his role in the sequel Evan Almighty.

Morgan Freeman also returns as God, this time to command Evan to build an ark. As you can imagine, this leads to all kinds of nutty events (although none that quite hit the same highs of Bruce Almighty).

Instore at Asda you can pick up this DVD for just £3.

Auf Wiedersehen Pet: The Complete Series One And Two

Auf Wiedersehen Pet: The Complete Series One And Two contains every episode from the first two series’ of the cult British TV show about a group of builders.

Many installments are incredibly funny, if you can get past Jimmy Nail - that was a joke, he’s a really nice guy. Probably.

Long Way Down: The Complete Series £3

Long Way Down: The Complete Series

When Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman did the Long Way Round, it was a phenomenal success. They tried to replicate this success by doing the Long Way Down, but instead seemed to spend most of their time complaining (shouldn’t be surprised really, what do you expect from actors?).

Join the two for all six episodes as they travel from the Northern most point of Scotland at John O’Groats, all the way down to the Southern most tip of South Africa at Cape Agulhas.

Instore at Asda you can pick up the two disc edition of Long Way Down: The Complete Series for only £3.
