Mean Girls, Save The Last Dance, And Clueless Triple Pack

Even though the Mean Girls, Save The Last Dance, and Clueless triple pack contains three films that are aimed at teenage girls, I’m sure that some male members of society will enjoy them too - Mean Girls alone is actually very good.

There’s nothing in the way of extra features with this, but I don’t expect that you’ll be all that fussed when you see the price. Or maybe you will!

Click here to buy this for £4.89 from Sendit.com, but be quick as this deal is only valid for one day.

The Goonies (Blu-Ray) £9.99

The Goonies (Blu-Ray)

Whether you were a child or a teenager in the 1980s, The Goonies will always have a special place in your heart. Kids today should enjoy it just as much, and to me it still holds up as a great example of how to do a family film really well - just watch out for the profanity!

There are three highlights to be found in amongst the bonus material. One is an audio commentary that reunites the cast to discuss the movie, another is the full "Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough" music video, and the final is a small selection of deleted scenes (including the infamous octopus bit missing in the final cut).

Click here to get The Goonies, on Blu-Ray, for £9.99 from Play.com.

V For Vendetta (Blu-Ray) £9.99

V For Vendetta (Blu-Ray)

V For Vendetta is an adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name, and tells the story of a mysterious freedom fighter who is trying to effect sociopolitical change whilst pursuing his own violent personal vendetta - all set against a backdrop of London in a near-future dystopian society.

The film has never looked better than it does in high definition, and you’ll also be glad to hear that all of the special features from the standard DVD have been included as well.

If you fancy V For Vendetta, on Blu-Ray, click here to buy it for £9.99 from HMV.

Blackadder: The Complete Collection - Limited Edition £23.97

Blackadder: The Complete Collection - Limited Edition

It’s interesting to note that whilst Blackadder is very much a comedy series, there are one or two fairly serious moments - the one that sticks out most being the end of Blackadder Goes Forth, which is actually quite emotional.

Inside the Blackadder: The Complete Collection - Limited Edition boxset you’ll find every episode ever made of the BBC show, including the two Specials. An interactive guide to historical figures and events that appear can also be found, as well as a short bit from "Comic Relief".

Wanted £6.99

Wanted

It’s a fairly common sight to see comic books being turned into big-budget movies nowadays, so it’s no real surprise to learn that Wanted is very loosely based on a mini-series of the same name. I say "very loosely" as the film focuses on a league of self-righteous assassins, whilst the comics were about super-villains.

As great as the film is, it’s disappointing that the DVD has absolutely no extra features at all. This can only mean a Special Edition will be released somewhere down the line.

Play.com are selling this for £6.99 - click here for more details.

Stardust £2.16

Cheap DVDs like Stardust can be enjoyed by the whole family

Stardust is a fantasy film based on the Neil Gaiman novel of the same name. It’s actually very good and incredibly watchable, probably because of the all-star cast (which includes Robert De Niro and Ricky Gervais) and excellent script.

The DVD doesn’t come with too many special features, be what you do get are some deleted scenes, bloopers, and a "making of" documentary.

Click here to buy this for only £2.16 from Borders.

The F.A. Cup Final: 1980s Classic Collection £13.93

The F.A. Cup Final: 1980s Classic Collection

There are many reasons why The F.A. Cup Final: 1980s Classic Collection boxset is worth getting, from Ricky Villa’s stunning goal against Manchester City in 1981 to "The Crazy Gang" at Wimbledon besting Liverpool in 1988.

This ten disc set contains every final from 1980 through to 1989 in their entirety, and should keep football fans everywhere entertained throughout - except that is, if like me, you’re a Newcastle supporter (we didn’t get anywhere near a final during this era).

Rocky Balboa £1.99

Rocky Balboa

Rocky Balboa is the final film in the Rocky series, and is considered by many to be the best since the original. Balboa is now retired from the boxing world and lives in Philadelphia, owning and operating an Italian restaurant called "Adrian’s" (named after his late wife, who we learn died of cancer).

The DVD comes with an interesting collection of extra features, including an audio commentary with Sylvester Stallone and some deleted scenes. There’s also an alternative ending, which is quite different from the one actually used in the movie.

Instore at Superdrug (yes, Superdrug) you can get this for just £1.99.

The Matrix Trilogy (Blu-Ray) £24.46

The Matrix Trilogy (Blu-Ray)

Love them or hate them, you have to give The Matrix films a round of applause for making a crap-ton of money at the box office. Although the third one was a bit of a letdown, it’s fair to say that the first two are brilliant examples of explosive action flicks done well.

The Matrix Trilogy, on Blu-Ray, has never looked better than it does in high definition. You’ll also be glad to hear that many of the extra features from the standard DVD releases have made it across too, including commentaries, documentaries, and a chance to listen to nearly three hours of music from the movies.

Pop in to Zavvi and pick this up for £24.46.
