Labyrinth And The Dark Crystal: Anniversary Edition Double Pack £4.99

Jim Henson is well known for his most famous creation, The Muppets, but he also directed a couple of very underrated big-screen films as well – Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal. Of the two, Labyrinth is perhaps more popular (probably down to the fact that David Bowie puts in a wonderfully over-the-top performance).

The Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal: Anniversary Edition double pack contains both movies, along with quite a bit of bonus material. Both come with fairly extensive documentaries, deleted scenes, and audio commentaries.

The Greatest Stories Ever Told Boxset £6.99

Films about religion often evoke strong opinions from many people, even if the message that the movie tries to convey can sometimes get lost in amongst the noise – just look at the controversy surrounding the release of The Passion Of The Christ in 2004.

The Greatest Stories Ever Told Boxset contains eight of 20th Century Fox’s most famous religious epics. The Song Of Bernadette, The Robe, Demetrious And The Gladiators, Story Of Ruth, Francis Of Assisi, The Greatest Story Ever Told, The Bible, and the aforementioned The Passion Of The Christ are all excellent, and quite emotional, films.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine – Season Two £13.95

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is a spin-off from Star Trek: The Next Generation, and began whilst its parent series was still airing – there were also several crossover episodes whilst the two were both showing. It’s also quite interesting that this was the first Star Trek programme to take place on a space station instead of a starship.

Inside the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine – Season Two boxset you’ll find all 26 installments from the second year. Also included are a total of five featurettes looking at the making of the show, and ten additional hidden features.

Braindead £3.99

Lord Of The Rings director Peter Jackson was, for a time, more known for his horror films with such titles as Bad Taste and Meet The Feebles shocking audiences with some seriously depraved stuff.

Braindead is another such movie, and is a zombie comedy slapstick that still holds the world record for most fake blood used in a single film. The opening half is pretty low-key, but it then starts to get out of control very quickly.

Columbo: The Complete Ninth Season £12.99

Columbo is an American crime fiction TV series that stars Peter Faulk as Lieutenant Columbo, a homicide detective with the Los Angeles Police Department. A scruffy-looking cop who is underrated by pretty much everybody, he solves all of his cases thanks to an eye for detail and a committed approach to work.

Columbo: The Complete Ninth Season is a three disc set that contains six of the feature-length TV movies aired at the tail-end of 1989 and through near-enough all of 1990. Watch out for a special appearance by Patrick McGoohan, who puts in a great performance in "Agenda For Murder".

Munich £2.99

In 1972, members of the Israeli Olympic team were taken hostage, and eventually murdered, in Munich by the militant group Black September. The film Munich is about the Israeli Government’s secret retaliation against those thought to be responsible for the 11 athletes deaths.

The DVD comes with an introduction by director and co-producer Steven Spielberg and a featurette on the real story behind the movie. Not a lot I agree, but such a powerful film as this doesn’t really need tons of extra stuff to warrant a purchase – gripping stuff from beginning to end.
