Hot Fuzz: Special Edition

After Shaun Of The Dead was such a huge success, it was inevitable that the team behind the film would return to the big screen again. Well, they did - and the result is Hot Fuzz.

Top cop Nicholas Angel finds himself reassigned to the quiet West Country village of Sandford. The sleepiness is soon interrupted after a spate of murders sweep the area - convinced of foul play, Angel and his new partner (the hilarious Nick Frost) swing into action.

St Trinian’s £7.99

St Trinian's is one of those cheap DVDs that comedy fans will love

Although it was over 25 years after the last one, St Trinian’s did OK when it was released last year. Maybe not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s always nice to see old franchises have new life breathed back into them - I just wish they’d do the same with Ghostbusters!

This particular film brings together a motley crew of ungovernable girls who save the St Trinian’s school from bankruptcy. Nothing too serious here, just over-the-top comedy.

Play.com are selling this DVD for the relatively cheap price of £7.99 - click here for more details.

28 Days Later And 28 Weeks Later Boxset £6.99

28 Days Later And 28 Weeks Later Boxset

When 28 Days Later was released in 2002, it very quickly became something of a cult hit. I think it probably had quite a lot to do with the scenes of an empty London - it did look very eery, and it’s something that has since been copied in other films (I’m thinking specifically of I Am Legend).

28 Days Later sees a powerful virus released into the British public after an animal rights group raids a primate research facility - this virus turns any who comes into contact with it into a permanent state of murderous rage. Within 28 days the cuntry is overwhelmed and a small band of survivors begin to attempt to salvage a future, unaware that the virus is not the only thing that threatens them…

In 28 Weeks Later, the US army declares the war against the virus has been won and that reconstruction of the British Isles can begin. Unfortunately they soon discover that the virus is not dead, and that it has in fact got more dangerous than ever.

Pixar Double Pack £9.99

Pixar Double Pack

Disney have moved away from the more traditional forms of animation to the more realistic looking techniques used by Pixar. Although nobody can question whether it looks any better (it does), it’s a pity that the kind of animation many are used to is slowly disappearing. Such is life!

The Incredibles is a hilarious adventure about a family of superheroes who have quit using their abilities, until they are summoned to a remote island for a top-secret mission.

Meet The Robinsons is a film about an orphan who dreams of finding the family that he’s never known. When he journeys to a world known as The Future, he meets an incredible variety of different characters (including The Robinsons) who lead him on an amazing adventure with heartfelt results.

Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer 2 - Mask Of Sanity 79p

Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer 2 - Mask Of Sanity

Many sequels are worse than the original, and Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer 2 - Mask Of Sanity also falls into this category. When you see how cheap it is though, I’d suggest taking a leap of faith and buying it anyway (it’s less than a quid!).

After the events of the first film, Henry is broke and homeless - until he manages to get a job, where he meets a couple who take him. It’s not long before Henry finds himself in the seedy life of insurance scams where one thing leads to another, and he’s back to doing the thing he does best…killing.

The Crow £2.96

The Crow

It’s a shame that The Crow will be remembered more for the sad death of Brandon Lee than it will for how good it actually is - a truly moving and downright excellent film.

After Eric Draven and his girlfriend are brutally murdered by a gang of thugs, Draven is brought back to life on year later so that he can take vengeance on those who killed him. One by one he seeks out members of the gang, who are unaware of the fate that awaits them…
