Tinker Bell (Blu-Ray) £7.85

Tinker Bell (Blu-Ray) is one of those cheap DVDs well worth adding to your collection

In every Disney movie she's appeared in, Tinker Bell has never spoken – until now. The film which bears her own name is also unlike any other featuring the character, as it's been produced using 3D modelling instead of traditional animation.

As this a high definition release, the picture and sound are pretty much perfect although I'm still personally to be convinced whether there's any real benefit to having animation in crystal-clear quality – some will disagree though.

The Hut are selling Tinker Bell, on Blu-Ray, for £7.85 – click here for more details.

Stephen Fry: In America From £6.99

Stephen Fry: In America (DVD)    Stephen Fry: In America (Blu-Ray)

Stephen Fry: In America is a BBC documentary series that sees the actor travel across America to reveal a country in which he was almost born. I say "almost" because his dad turned down a job in New Jersey just before he was born.

Both the DVD and Blu-Ray releases are double disc sets which contain all six fully uncut episodes, as well as some unseen footage – although obviously the picture and sound quality on the high definition version are of a much higher standard.

Click here to buy the DVD for £6.99 from HMV, or click here to buy the Blu-Ray for £8.95 from The Hut.

David Attenborough: The Life Collection £55.45

David Attenborough: The Life Collection

Whilst David Attenborough: The Life Collection is the most complete collection of the great naturalist's documentaries that he has made for the BBC, it sadly doesn't contain every single series – "Life In Cold Blood" was not available when this was produced, so hasn't been included.

What you do get are 24 discs packed with some of the most breathtaking scenery and amazing animals that you'll ever see. "Life On Earth", "The Living Planet", "The Trials Of Life", "Life In The Freezer", "The Private Life Of Plants", "The Life Of Birds", "The Life Of Mammals", and "Life In The Undergrowth" are all interesting and informative at the same time.

House: Seasons One to Five Collection £49.99

House: Seasons One to Five Collection

While older viewers might still associate Hugh Laurie with such iconic comedy stuff as Blackadder, younger audiences have become more accustomed to him appearing in straight roles – medical drama House being probably the best work he's done in quite some time.

The House: Seasons One to Five Collection boxset contains the first 110 episodes of the U.S. series, along with far too many extra features to list here. Suffice to say, they include a number of audio commentaries, featurettes on the making of the show and some other bits and pieces.

Click here to buy this set of cheap DVDs for £49.99 from Sendit.com, which can actually be bought for £48.99 until Sunday the 24th of January by using the Sendit.com £1 voucher.

Transformers (Blu-Ray) £7.99

Transformers (Blu-Ray)

Many people of a certain age will remember the animated series of Transformers with a fond heart, even if it was basically a glorified advert for the accompanying toy line – although this is a tad bit cynical (though somewhat grounded in truth).

The big-screen version took a fair while to make it to cinemas, but when it did we were rewarded with something that surpassed expectations in a big way. The sequel has since been released too, but the least said about it the better I'm afraid…

If you fancy Transformers, on Blu-Ray, click here to buy it for £7.99 from Gameplay.

Sony BDP-S360 Blu-Ray Player £79.99

The Sony BDP-S360 Blu-Ray Player will play any number of cheap DVDs

Blu-Ray hasn't quite taken off as much as some would have hoped, but with prices falling by a fairly big amount in recent times it could be a good idea to look at the technology – trust me when I say that the jump from standard DVD to high definition is incredible.

The Sony BDP-S360 Blu-Ray player not only allows you to play Blu-Rays, but will also upscale your DVDs as well. What this basically means is that the picture is improved (although obviously a bit below what you'd get with true HD).

Click here to buy the Sony BDP-S360 Blu-Ray Player for £79.99 from Amazon.
